Oh. So three unprotected picks. The 2023 is top 16 protected, then top 14, top 14, then converts to second round pick.

great trade for both teams. The picks will all likely be in the 20s but that's okay because you have ammo for trades, a bunch of cap space and with so much young talent, a more cohesive timeline. I initially thought "tank" but I dunno. I feel like maybe they just let the talented young kids develop together. If a great FA or someone becomes available in trades you have the means to get it done. If Primo is SGA 2.0 like hoped, and Sochan is a solid 3 and D 4, you could do worse than a core of Primo, Vassell, Johnson, Sochan.
For you Spurs fans. Would you rather let these kids develop, really let them compete (or not), coaching to win so they develop good habits, or would you rather now outright tank for one of the studs in next year's draft? I can see the appeal of either option

Thanks.
This is always the way, but with this trade (and potentially more to come) the outcome might be high picks next year anyway. Win win.
Can't keep spinning your wheels. Hard decision but right foundationally. We have enough young guys to compete and learn. The kids will get thrown into the fire good and proper now.

So what happens if Charlotte's pick is 1-16? What do we get then?

Grade the trade.
I'd give the Hawks a C+
Spurs get a B

Bobby Marks says we'll be waiving Gallo.

I think the subsequent protections come over with the deal: so each of the two years after it's top-14 protected, and in the fourth year it converts to a couple of seconds.
But Charlotte is super keen on making the playoffs so the chances of them not doing so in the next three years are slim.
But it's all a game of crystal ball at this point.
The other three picks are unprotected.
