Not sure why there are allusions to us not keeping Cedi. We've long been interested, and not everyone has to be super young to fit. He's only 28 anyway and we need experience. Great shoreup at the SF spot.

I like Osman but neither player really helps us or fits the roster.

Stevens could be the replacement for Langford? But we already have a logjam of guys there.

Osman is very similar to McDermott and you couldn't put both of them on the floor together at the same time and expect to defend anyone.
Maybe we are buying out one of the two? Or just keeping them around to hit the cap floor?

I think we let Langford go because we've been shoring up the position, including Sidy who is bigger and a multiple-position defender. Langford would have had the highest amount to retain from all the players we chose to keep. He's only 23, but he's never played more than 48 games in his career (43 with us last season). Even taking DNPs into account, that's a LOT of missed games. He's out for a long time for a variety of given injuries each time. He's a nice player and showed some flashes on O, was good on D, and I hope he settles into his body/his body settles into the NBA grind like Derrick's has. But for now, the return on investment isn't there, especially with who we have in the pipeline and what it costs to retain more of them vs. keeping Romeo.

As for Cedi, we've been kicking those tires for at least a couple of seasons so there's clearly interest. He's an expiring which may serve us well come February, or we move off your favourite, Doug, who is also an expiring but bigger contract, and older. It's essentially Doug insurance/shoring up the SF.

An experienced off-ball moving, 3s-hitting, 6'7" SF is good to have in our movement-oriented O. It adds variety to our lineup and as Doug gets more of those feast or famine games as older players tend to have, Cedi is good insurance to ensure the floor stays raised. Variety in line-ups and cap flexibility are key. PLUS we got ANOTHER 2nd round pick. It's a smart move for now and for the future, as we've been doing for the past few years. I'm excited to see what Cedi brings.

(Apologies to Stevens, not sure about his game at all - as in I don't know enough to even comment on it. Hope he shows out well if we keep him).
