Outgoing from us is a future 2nd round pick, per Shams.

He has very low BBIQ. But he is a decent player if in a controlled situation.

He has a chance to be a nice 15-20 minutes a night guy

Or, he has a chance to be benched forever 5 minutes into the season for not listening to Pop and acting like a Cameron Payne.....

His value is actually low right now. Just watch him in the finals run from a couple years ago, looked like a stud PG.

I hadn't paid much attention to him and so the main impression was that of a shooter.

Whether or not Blake's SL expedited this move vs. potential others, what we do know is that we were facing coming into this season with only one PG who shot from 3 at a good rate.

We've learned from that hindrance and now have at least two PGs who can hit a 3 well.

In fact, it bears repeating that all three of our trade acquisitions hit a 3 above our team average last season. Floor spacers are going to be huge in our movement O.

We acquired an unprotected 2nd and over $5M was sent with it for a very heavily protected 2nd sent out in this deal. So these are already solid pluses for being patient and judicious with our cap space.

All we really need from Payne is to run a P&R and hit a 3. Perhaps we unlock a hitherto underdeveloped D that some Pop discipline grows.

And if he has a steady floor and gets us another asset at the deadline?

Well this is an excellent deal all around.
