A massive clash of epic proportions whose result will cause ripple effects for ages to come. Or it's just another game in which we have to respect the game, respect the opponent, and play up to our best level to push through and reward ourselves for good, consistent, team-first, two-way play. Either way, here's to making a better path and gaining good momentum on it.
WHERE: Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, MI
WHEN: Wednesday, January 10, 2024, 6pm (CT)
GO SPURS GO!!!

I was thinking of going to see this in person but then I started to think about why I would want to drop a crap-ton of my hard earned money to see this traveling bleep-show by both teams. Especially on a weeknight.
I would love to see Wemby in person, however.
The tickets are cheaper than most of the league but still extremely overpriced. I can stay in my warm house and not navigate gun shots and pay 50 bucks minimum to park then get asked by 150 sketchy bums for money walking to the arena.
All that and the reality that the fans care more if these teams win than any of the players do, I'll just sit this one out.
Oh and to top it off, I'm not sure yet if League Pass is going to try to black this out on me but I really dont care either way. Thats where my mind is at....
GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!!

Wemby DHO to Tre for a wide open layup. Good start.
Wemby DHO to a Tre baseline reverse layup. Again open. Good follow up.
Just keep driving.

Devin - don't get sucked into 3s. Set it up for others or drive.

Me wishing Sochan had longer arms on 3s contests. Or close out harder. Whichever is more realistic.

Sochan passes inside to Wemby who is behind the defender. Bad look inside. It's not inside for the sake of inside - it's proper pass inside. Sochan. Wake the **** up.

Things fell apart when Devin lazily started taking outside shots, and Sochan overdribbled and passed poorly either when he needed to because his #1 option - himself - wasn't open or the pass he was supposed to make - inside to Wemby was bad.

Good job by Dom staying with their big bouncy C.
Dom has a good quick second bounce.

D to O!
Tre to Keldon in transition.
Well done.
We are collapsing well on their drives but they're managing shots inside versus three Spurs at the rim. We're careful not to foul, I guess. But good pushes the other way.

We now have Devin, Keldon, Dom (who just made a nice J), Cedi, and Branham.

We got hacked inside twice now - Wemby before and now Dom with no calls...

Good O board work. Three chances and then finally Cedi drives and gets the foul.

That was Sochan's man droppinginto the paint that he should have covered/gotten in front of.
Then Sochan 'almost missed everything' on the other end.
These are bad plays that accumulate.
This is how leads dissipate. Guys doing their own thing, not playing with fundamentals.

Sochan tunnel vision ahd a WIDE OPEN Keldon at the arc - passing to him was the right play - and instead he took a contested end of clock hook J miss. Frustrating when guys look to get their own with leads rather than continuing to make the right plays.

1ST Q: SPURS 31 PISTONS 19
It was a 16-point lead then Sochan went into bad I-me-mine mode and we finished our god run with a 4-0 against to end the Q.
When we drive inside from good passing, good things happen.
When we settle for outside shots, not - 2-7 from 3.
Only 1-2FTs.
Good job on the boards: 16-10, 4-1 on O boards.
But we keep playing with fire allowing drives inside, taking one and done shots.
Keeping up the D to O transition. We are playing a team that played yesterday. We have to be the energy initiators and imposers.
