There's Jeff McD sauntering about lol

Everyone looks to be a bit more dressed up, shirts pressed, nobody looking like they've just rolled out of bed in their track suits and old band t-shirts.

Pop's up first...

- Loved Istanbul

- Told CP3 to just be himself; hated him (playing against him, really); thrilled to get to see him as a player on the daily

- Loves HB, has sought ways to get him here since their time on Team USA. Makes the most of his talent on and off the court.

- CBass and Collins will be ready for training camp; Dev will be re-evaluated in November

- Wemby is the lone sure starter. The rest will have to show Pop.

Dev in a new 'do up next.

- Had surgery June 26. Will be re-evaluated Nov. 1.

- Wanted to let it heal naturally but it didn't, therefore, surgery. Feels better now than previously. Feels more healthy than he has in a long time.

- Super excited about vet additions and their leadership.

- "Playoffs. That's it. That's all I see."

Svelte and toned Keldon Wilder Johnson up now...

- Another year, more experience, wants to grow and win.

- Sign of respect to give up #3 to CP3, a player he grew up looking up to; #0 which he had in Austin is going back to his roots.

- Being locked in, in shape to hit the ground running; defense has been a focus this summer (doesn't look convincing saying that but it could just be my perception of his response...).

- Lost weight - won't give a number lol - and feels like he moves better; took diet seriously, changed lifestyle for long term.

- Will be ready for whatever role is asked of him.

Harrison Barnes up next, sits down with the old man groan lol

- Pop singled him out in film on Team USA lol but loves the knowledge and teaching from him

- Win-win with Team USA winning Gold and Wemby playing to well

- Blake stood out well in scrimmages, picking up guys defensively

- Consistency with expectations to win and building good habits to execute little things with goal to playoffs

- We can't have a great season without Jeremy's game; unique player; had a dinner with him the first night he got here; very funny.

- Gives condolences to and praises Dikembe

- Good work ethic among team; joy to see desire to compete

CP3 now!

- Seamless transition to new team; everyone's been nice and gracious

- Great fit, both sides wanted each other, wants to hoop and compete; great situation with Pop and young team looking to compete

- Pop said he's despite you for years; Yeah it's mutual hahaha; good convos since signing

- Want to learn and build and try to win at the same time

- Cool to see Wemby's work ethic off court in prep for on it

- Has been training 3Xs/week with HB since they both became Spurs

- Mentioned Keldon, HB, Tre as a great group to be around, some familiarity with the latter two, group chat up and running

- Biggest thing he brings is competitiveness; translating playing hard to wins.

- LOVES to play basketball and if he's away from family, this is the best fit for getting a chance to hoop; loves that the org has Pop and resources to facilitate his continuing to get to play

And here's Jeremy in pink braids - "HI!"

- Talked about NT experience, will play next year at EuroBasket

- Because we haven't won much the last couple of years, it was refreshing to be part of contests where every game matters

- Seeking consistency, focus on D, playing with energy

- Shot form has changed, higher elbow, shoulder work with Jimmy the shooting guru

- Looking fowrard to playing normal position; loves the vet leadership brought in; excited about training camp, will be super competitive

- Excited as a team and city to grow and level up

Wemby on now!

- Summer was long and demanding, tactical side of Olympic games, super high intensity

- Learned a lot from rookie year and Olympics, will use it his whole life and career

- Learning the importance of fundamentals, making the most of simple situations ie/ finishes

- Excited to fit with and learn from CP3; recalls watching him growing up; he has "IT" and can translate it to teammates

- "Respect body's identity" - gained weight through core strength building; very satisfied with summer work in SA

- Worked with Crawford for a length of time; has player's POV towards the game; positive experience; "I would to it again"

- Managing expectations - focus on actual responsibilities; helping to make teammates better; emphasis on winning

- Hard to win games, very easy to lose games in Olympics - happens to quickly, lots of lessons, one of the most intense sporting experiences of his life

- Felt lucky and proud to qualify for Gold Medal Game; locked in in all elimination games; lots of emotions working all together as a team so intensely focused on a single goal

- Body strength increases every year, the primary thing that helps improve his game; did a few weeks in SA which helped for Olympics; Now a few more weeks in SA to prep for season; likes that pattern of strength building prep

To a man, everyone talked about winning more this season. It frankly shouldn't be hard to beat 22Ws, but they also talked about making the playoffs.

Love the early work everyone's been putting in this season to get to know one another, to build chemistry, to play their more natural positions which will facilitate better output, and to grow with winning games. Compete compete compete and grow and win are the common threads sewing bonds and binding us into a closely knit unit.

Wemby was pretty good in the Olympics... French team reached the finals, but couldn't beat US. Added Chris Paul, we needed a leader on court. Well, how do we actually plan to build a winning team? That's still got to be a huge concern for us. Need some upgrades from Vassell, Keldon and Harrison Barnes.

Like a 7. Don't get me wrong, I know a vet like him is sorely needed but he's ancient and I just wonder how much he can contribute to anything meaningful on the court at this point in his career

:o

It'll be fun watching it all play out in real time.

(I'm looking forward to the new crop of 7 footers coming into the league. They seem a direct response to Wemby's ascendance.

Victor vs Edey should be a great budding rivalry.)

I'll say 7 out of 10 also.

I'm hoping he tries to fit in like he did with the Warriors and doesn't make it all about himself like usual. That would be exciting.

On the other hand I cant get too excited about a guy who will likely only play about 50 games and miss the playoffs(if we make it) due to injuries.

Return to San Antonio Spurs
