If we traded the entire team plus a couple future picks we would still be better off with just Castle, Wemby, Giannis and a bunch of G-Leaguers

Theses are the ones we're hearing about. I'm curious about the ones we're not...

How are we supposed to afford this? Both in terms of gutting our team of assets, so lack of depth (so perhaps
a third or even fourth team would have to be involved) and cap hell. We're re-signing Fox. Say it's a shorter than max length contract, like final year is an option. That helps. Say we do trade for Giannis and there's an agreement in place for an extension that lines up with Fox's deal. Even if these are off by a year or so, that helps. And of course Wemby will be getting the most massive extension of all. But in order to keep things enticing for him to stay, we have to show initiative in improving the team while remaining sustainable for long term success.

Unless these contracts get staggered and at least one aligns with ending as Wemby's next one starts, it's slimmer pickings to fill out the rest of the team. Depth is wealth in the playoffs.

And with Giannis aboard, we'd still be short a starting level 3 and backup 5.

LOTS to figure out this summer.

Apparently Giannis is looking at the competitive landscape and would prefer to stay in the east (per Windy). Oh and have some coaching and roster control (per ScoopB).

Bwhahahahahahaha!!!

Yeah that's not here, mate.

This is Wemby's team and we build around him. He embodies and continues The Spurs Way. You're welcome to come and fit in, but we're not doing the whole me me me thing. That's not what Spurs Culture is about.

^^^ Maybe that's legit, maybe that's leveraging to get more teams to pony up assets in a multi - team trade. But the whole wanting to be the man and making FO decisions like this is going to be built around him is just not the right fit.

Anyway, here's another rumour involving us, potentially, because we want everyone's super expensive experienced players now. I don't see us wanting anyone except a 3s sniper or maybe White (who they are smart enough to and should keep). Don't want Zinger or Jrue or Brown.

If we talking 3&D players who could be had on the cheap, my preference would be for Dean Wade of the Cavs. There is just something about him that interests me even though his stats are not great.

Does he have a no trade?

I think this is just posturing to get the garbage franchises to stay away from him like Philly, Charlotte, NO, Washington and Atlanta.

Honestly I wouldnt mind him having coaching input here since we dont have much coaching input anymore anyway 8-)

Lmao there's a reason Pop insisted despite questions on being at that regrettable torch passing presser.

No offense to Mitch but we've agreed that he was out of his element last season but he kept the locker room together in a tough season. Now we're going the corporate knowledge/growing into role/ Pop and RC blueprint of coming in together and having a strong collaborative relationship. So too have Wright and Mitch as they started with us back in 2016.

Anyway, this still neecessitated Pop appearing and giving his stamp of approval. We can only hope Mitch has a lot of room to grow and quickly.

Building a much better roster around Wemby will help. But I don't want players dictating FO decisions. Bucks reportedly got players GA wanted. Well ok and now they're in cap and asset hell, on the brink of losing their biggest star because they have no ways to improve but for trading him.

I'm sure Wemby is consulted on key decisions, like Mitch, or bringing in one guy over another, but it's his team and he's always talking about how he trusts PATFO. Anything that may disrupt this hierarchy cannot be here. Any player coming in has to understand this is Wemby's team. Fox has.

But it's an interesting take to ensure bad teams aren't tempted to bite. Then again, bad teams may view that as a positive development for GA to control things lol He doesn't have a NTC but there's lots of posturing about. First that GA has a list of teams, then that he prefers east, then that he wants FO say, and now that newly extended Bucks GM will do what's best for Bucks, demand a king's ransom from teams, and in potentially gutting a prospective team, present to Giannis that Bucks poverty situation is then better lmao ok good luck with that.

I was kind of joking about the coaching thing :D
Just wanted to take another poke at the franchise for making, IMO a big mistake. But who am I?

I wouldn't want Giannis or anyone else here who wasnt going to adapt and fit in. Giannis seems to be a good guy. Im sure he wouldnt try to take over like a LeBron James would. Giannis just wants to win and I wouldn't mind someone who wouldn't be afraid to respectfully make a point when our coaching staff is acting clueless like they did several times last year. Chris Paul last year was perfect for example. He was great and fit right in. But he also got in guys faces if they werent pulling their weight.

I heard two words that made my ears perk up: control and East. The first because Windy doesn't really elaborate what the extent or context of it is. Control of what? Which team he gets to go to? How much control he exerts on a given team? (If so, it's the second time it has surfaced). And East, as in it is a more open path to winning, starting with it's easier to get a higher seed in the regular season.

And the Spurs still stand out as the best option both for Bucks to deal with or Giannis to be in.

I don't want us to pay through the roof if we're like a third option, if we're going to have to be d over backwards more than a bendy acrobat, if we're going to be in cap and asset hell, potentially. I think we're in the driver's seat in that we are not giving up our best player and can get a best player on the potential offering.

But we shouldn't and won't be taken advantage of in building the right team around Wemby. And unlike the Bucks, we have multiple avenues of doing so sustainably.

Stiff.

Tons of better Cs this draft. And you certainly don't waste s lotto pick, a high one at that, on a non 3s shooting, so so FTs shooting 23 year old back up.

We'd have whiffed on a far better player, the one who earned all the accolades, congrats again, Steph.

C's that are first team all rookies?

We wasted that pick on drafting a nobody for Minnesota when we could have had 2/5 all rookies and filled one of our largest holes in our lineup and been free to not worry about that position this draft.

Not to mention Memphis became instantly better than us by drafting him.

That traded pick was part of a package for Fox. So, older back up big with no 3s and meh FTs and a back up undersized PG with no D, or... Fox. Come on...

He got played off the court in the POs. Started all 4 games, averaged 27mpg and a whopping 6 points, 7 boards. Very solid 2.5 blocks per game. 71%FTs. 0 3s.

Memphis was instantly better because they already had Ja, Bane, JJJ, etc. A back up big was not some huge difference maker. Else he'd have made a difference when it counted.

You don't waste lotto picks on back ups with huge deficiencies in their games.
