Spurs vs. Heat

Post#1 » by LyMinh » Thu Jan 24, 2008 4:09 pm

Cool, the NBA decided to hand us a free win tonight. The Heat are like the NFL equivalent of having a bye-week. But we're the Spurs and lose to terrible Eastern teams so you never know.

Always like to take this chance to say the Heat are by far the worst champs of my lifetime, and I'm still getting over such a mediocre team winning one. Most of the NBA finals losers of the past 20 years are way better than the Heat. Yeah, I realize we have 4 but that one should have been ours. Never leave it to the Mavs to take care of business.

I wouldn't call it a free win by any means, this same Heat club took it to the Mavs a few weeks back without D-Wade and Shaq, I expect us to win but this is the NBA where anybody can get hot and beat the favorite.

Yeah especially considering they're former champs who think they still have championship talent going againts the defending champs. It's extra motivation for everyone. Plus, this is the kind of game that can turn their season around. a confidence builder.

I still think we win, but i think we get a scare. Wade will go off.

It's all going to depend on which Spurs turn up, if it's the firsy half Spurs of last night, showing no energy and sloppy play then Miami definitely has a chance of winning especially on a B2B. However if the second hald Spurs turn up and play 48 minutes it could be a blowout.

8-10 point Spurs win

Actually intrigued for the game more just because it's on TNT.

I wonder why Doug Collins said Manu knows he is gonna get 35-36 minutes when he averages less that 30.

Did Craig Sager just say congratulations to Mark Blount for having a 1 point halftime lead?

That was a good game

Duncan and Wade were great, with solid support for each... but the superior team won. Definitely closer than I thought it'd be :).

Impressive effort by Miami for sure, but we turned up that defense and scored enough to win - Miami missed 10 of their last 12 shots.

Hopefully Barry's not out too long... better now than later in the season, and then he has a very limited (but still effective) playoff role. Like last year.

the Spurs were far from superior tonight, they left everything in San Antonio yesterday - we won by playing good defense and some luck on the offense.

The superior team meaning in general. Not specifically tonight. Obviously tonight it was close, we just played a little better in the end.

Kind of how Dirk made you "Dirk" the '06 conference finals away? Or how you had to have a terrible no call to beat the worst team in the nba that was on a 14 game losing streak?

I honestly didn't look closely enough to see if there was a no-call on Wade from Bowen. But if there was (which there may well of been), the lack of a better angle and defensive reputation got us the call.

As far as the Mavs, well, Dirk needs to try and stop getting contained defensively. Then again, his lack of a low-post game, and drop off of impact on the game when he's not scoring well will prevent that against solid defense. Like he was in the finals, and in the Warriors series (and numerous other examples). Obviously the Spurs couldn't match up with him that well in the 2006 series.

come on now, a Mavericks fan should be the last to trash talk about this game, the Heat were working you guys without Wade and Shaq, with the Mavericks having a days rest before.

lol what exactly does Dirk do now, he's not the 3pt theat he once was and that fabeled low post game is as transparent as ever? So if he can't shoot, can't play down low and can't play d what does that make him???

TD has been going of these past few games, really likeing this form he's showing, which is good cos Parker has been MIA through this back to back.

Very good win for us considering the circumstances (No sleep the night before). That strip by Bowen, he got all ball on the initial slap, there was contact as DWade tried to bring the ball up, but like they say, as long as you get all ball on the first swipe it's fair. Either way, D Wade got alot of calls in that game that he shouldn't have (No charge on Manu, invisible "and 1" on Vaughn etc) So really no one can complain about calls.

Oh and last time i checked Dirk didn't even make the starting all star squad?
