OT- Kidd to mavs

Just heard Mavs have gotten old man Kidd for Harris, Diop, Stackhouse, George + picks and cash. Not sure what to make of it. Parker licks his lips when he's up against Kidd. Devin was as fast as Parker and gave him probs, now we'll have no problem against the backcourt of the Mavs. It's a bit of a lateral move for me really. Mavs have switched to win now mode exclusively. Especially seeing they gave up 1 round picks too. Not to mention they gave up Diop who gave Duncan problems. Mavs just got easier for us to beat.

Both of you guys pretty much summed up my feelings in those two posts. Lakers are the team I now fear the most. Followed by the Suns. Now don't get me wrong, I still think any team can beat us at any time, but I like our chances against the Mav's a bit better if this deal goes through. I am amazed at all the big stars moving around. So what is going to happen with the All Star game? Marion AND Kidd.

I love the deal, they give up a pg that can guard Parker and a center that gives Duncan trouble......never thought Dallas would pull the deal.
If they can make it work, wow, but they gave up a lot.

Wow.
Well, they improve at PG, and get tougher to an extent, and more experience.
But, they lose a serious part of their depth, in reliable, key players, and toughness. Each different in what they bring. Three guys that have been key to their success in recent years. Aside from Dirk, Howard, Terry.
Makes the Mavs less deep, diverse, and athletic, on both ends of the court. Even if Stackhouse is bought out and returns to the Mavs. They do upgrade at PG, but don't upgrade as a team.
Dirk still doesn

another thing is stack is gone. for whatever reason, stack has owned us in the playoffs the past couple years where we played them.

I wouldn't say Stack is gone. SOunds like NJ will buy him out and he will prolly come back to Dallas after 30 days. Mebbe Spurs can sign him.

LOL Stack is the last guy we need. We're chock full of ex allstar old man shooters as it is!

That'd be nice. Stack, Finley, Barry, Stoudamire, Horry is a great group of tough, clutch veteran shooters. Specifically with Stackhouse, he can still score pretty well. Then you'd have Manu, Udoka, Bowen, Bonner.
I wouldn't mind him.

I think they gave too much. Honestly who else was bidding for him? I am not exactly Harris's biggest fan but he gives the Mavs an decent defender to throw at Parker and other points. Kidd at this point can't guard speedy points and his D is on reputation only and not actual performance.

Devean George is superior! [/Bill Walton voice]
They'll throw in somebody else, probably

How does a scrub like Devean George get a no trade clause?
And maybe a better question, Devean George is still in the NBA?

What happens to the Dallas team chemistry if the deal doesn't go down?

Well, it will be on their minds for sure, because it can still easily be done with adding somebody else in the place of George.. but if they end up staying and Kidd's dealt elsehwere, I think they'd all be happy.

They'll probably turn into a bunch of mentally weak chokers.
Oh wait...

Do you have to become 33 to not be able to shut up and tell some journalist that you ain't going nowhere and you'll be back in Dallas next to Dirk and Kidd...

I agree, there is something wrong with Stack being able to say he'll be right back shortly. This is pre-arranged by owners. What is the point of salaries needing to matchup if you don't have to part with players? Maybe we can "trade" Manu and some scrubs for Jermaine O'Neal and then re-sign Manu for a dollar?

LOL exactly, we can trade Parker and Duncan to cleveland too for james, then sign them back after they get cut by the cavs.
C JO
PF Duncan
SF James
SG manu
PG Parker
Get it done RC!

Looks like GMs around the league saw it like us:

Dumbhouse might have screwed the whole thing, not George after all.
The screwup here is Cuban. Heard on the radio today this was a Cuban deal, not a Donnie Nelson deal. Owner to owner mostly. If so, he either didn't know or care that George had that no trade clause.
Anyone with common sense would have run it by a no-trader before including him in a deal. So, he DOES NOT talk to George about it even though he has a no-trade, but he DOES talk to Dumbhouse about something you're not supposed to talk about, even when you do talk about it, you know what I mean?
You gotta know when to talk and when not to talk. I will laugh my ass off if this deal falls apart.
