I found an interesting blog today going back to Rodman's days in SA. It had a whole part on the finals and Rodman's disruptive behaviour leading into the series. I remember ithinking back then that Robinson didn't have alot of help guarding Hakeem and this article just proves what i had always thought. The whole notion of Hakeems dominance over D Rob has irked me for years and i never believed there was much difference between the two. Becuase of that one series every hakeem jock rider has been able to use it as their argument winner. However this blog sheds new light on what was going on behind the scenes back then:

Well Robinson had too much pride to not cover Hakeem. Hell he was the DPOY and MVP. The thing is that for that series... Hakeem was just playing at an ungodly level. It wouldn't have mattered if Rodman covered him more instead of padding his stats. Hakeem wasn't going to be denied another championship.

I remember that series very well. I was in the 5th grade when that matchup took place. Despite D-Rob's efforts to play defense against Olajuwon. The guy was on fire and was playing at a level that I've never seem a center played before in my life. Very impressive to see a center displaying those kind of moves. Hakeem was one of a kind. I still remember that up and under move he did on D-Rob in the series. Can't remember which game it was, but that move decided for me that Houston had the better chance of beating S.A. in that series. In the case of Rodman could've been a factor in the series. With the way Hakeem was playing the game the way he did, I doubt even Rodman himself could've stopped him. Hell, Shaq couldn't stopped him when the Rox met the Magic in the 95 Finals.
