...at the top of the western conference?

its the man in black!

its just wacky how the leader of this killer-conference is changing every week...->hornets->lakers->spurs->...nearly every team had its turn...its surly no schame if you get kicked out as top seat (I'm not talking about the spurs) as you will play a team with about .600!

what I wanted to ask you:
Do you even care?...
First of we are better in the underdogs role and with the top-seat no one will underate our squad!
Then the only thing you gain is homecourt, as the 8th seat isn't really worse than the 3rd or 4th.
The last two years the top seat was huge, as it ensured you not having to play two of SA/DAL/PHO, but this year it doesnt really matter I believe.
the last time the top seat won it all was in '03 and you know who it was?

Who do you think will stand at top after 82 games and which team needs it most?

I believe its the Spurs or Lakers will, but the Hornets need it more, because they need to send a message to the league: "We may be unproven, but we won the freakin West, so everything is possible!"

It was only a matter of time really. Everyone always counts us out before the ASG then BAM! We come like a bat out of hell and pwn the league in the second half. Sure there's the pau, kidd, blah freakin blah blah. But really we are the cream of the crop. Until we're knocked out of the playoffs we're still the team to beat in the NBA.

Top seed is important to a point I believe. YOu definitely want home court at least in the first round. It also hopefully gives you the easier of the west teams in the first round. I wonder if some teams will actually try to aim at certain positions this year to avoid other teams. Other years people say just take your spot and go with it but this year, I could see people paying more atention to opponents.

agreed..except I believe it'll be a factor for the entire playoffs..having homecourt advantage doesn't mean that you're going to automatically win, but it'll obviously help vs. a team like LA..

I have this feeling that Phoenix might actually slipped out of the playoff by season end. Phoenix is not as good offensively IMO and honestly, i'm not sure if there's anything they can do to fix their problems defensively. Even if they get better, they're not going to be that good defensively. And they're extremely struggling right now. they're 2-4 and really, if they finish the next 4 games going 1-3, it could push them all the way to like 7th or something.

The west is tighter than a 18 year old virgin...

It is quite remarkable that we were the 6th seed and we just an afterthought in the west and now we are the 1st seed.

I've become a daily conference checker nowadays. In years past things would remain pretty much the same during the stretch run barring meltdowns and huge runs.

In all honesty, I just want the Spurs to secure themselves a playoff spot. I just don't see much advantage in seeding for this year's Western Conference playoffs.

they are at 6th now..with dallas at 7th...WOW

who would have thought, that finaly phoenixs own pick could be higher than the one they own from atlanta?

Just as you guys complain about the Spurs always being buried, don't bury the Suns yet. They are yet 3 games back from you in the loss column, with your team having upcoming games such as Detroit, Boston, Denver, Phoenix, Dallas, etc. Just cause they are playing bad doesn't mean they can't turn it around quickly. Wait until the end of the season before deciding draft picks.

I'm actually glad we have such a tough schedule. We get to see where we're really at going into the playoffs and any wins vs the big teams just further adds to our mental edge.

It's not about the number of games Phoenix has been losing, but how bad they've looked out there on the court. Their defense is just atrocious now (even by their standards) and they just look flat-out confused on offense (can't decide on run-and-gun and slow-it-down halfcourt, so they're using some half-assed combination of the two). I doubt they'll miss the playoffs, but I don't think they're going to make much noise.

All these teams made drastic moves to contend for a championship this year. It's gonna be funny when the Spurs just win it all again.

Everyone is trying to reach the Spurs this year, Lakers got Gasol, Boston got KG, Dallas got Kidd, Phoenix got Shaq. We're top dog right now, and number one enemy in the NBA. However i still think we'll repeat.

Not the Lakers. They only got Pau because Bynum is injured.

so if it wasnt for bynums injury, they wouldnt have traded for gasol?

I am really glad to see you back in the top... I love it with you guyses up there. I wish the Jazz could stand to meet you in the WCF, but I guess we will have to collide and this time stronger than last year.
