Hey - sorry about this, but I may be out of a job very soon and am trying to make a plan for when it does happen. I have been giving serious concideration to San Antonio. I am a Civil Eningeer which is dependent upon development. I was hoping that you could answer a few questions for me.

1) How is San Antonio's construction industry holding up?
2) How well do you like living in San Antonio on a scale of 1 (low) to 10 (high)?
3) Is it a good place to raise a family? (I have two young boys and one on the way)...

Thanks!

1. Pretty good I think, my father is in construction and he always turns down jobs because he has too many he's already working on.

2. 10

3. Yes

1. Of the top ten cities with population growth, San Antonio was one of them. Dallas was #1 and Houston was #4. Texas seems like its the place to be.

2. I was raised in San Antonio and live in the Detroit Metro area now. If I had to rank the two places, San Antonio would be a 9.5ish and Detroit Area would be a 5. Maybe even less. Cold weather up here sucks and economy in Michigan is one of the worst. However I might be getting a neat job in a few months so it makes it worth it.

3. Every city has it's good districts and it's not so good districts. But there are schools with good programs in SA. I've been removed from the city for a few years now so I am not qualified to answer this question.

All in all, I hope everything works out for you. What area do you live in now?

Thanks for the input. I will have to look into it further. As for right now, I live in Idaho. It's nice, but I would defenately like a change....

PS - I am really suprised how slow the Spurs board is. Is there another site that gets more traffic?

One cool thing about SA is it's close (Like 30 min drive) to Austin, probably my favourite city in the entire US next to NYC.

1... Very well. SA has had a very good housing and commercial market and has not really seen hit with the recession of the country. There is tons of highway work that needs to be done by TXDOT which is right up your alley.

2. I think it is a very good place to live in my opinion. A solid 8. It is safe has quality schools and low crime. I always thought of it as a place to settle down once you are older. The cost of living is very low even for Texas.

3. I think it is a very family type city with various places like Sea World, Fiesta Texas around the area.
