The mere mention of this will likely cause a rebellion on the board, but I think its time to shake things up in the off season. We need to get younger. We need another go to scorer. I love Manu, but he makes poor decisions and plays with a reckless abandon. That doesn't work on this team as we are not athletic enough to make up for it. My idea, though controversial is to trade Ginobilli and Bonner (& 2nd round pick) to Atlanta for Joe Johnson. Then make the below signings in free agency. We may have to go slightly over the cap this year. But we need some youth and athleticism if we want a few more titles in the Duncan era.

Center Salary

Diojana Diop 5 M (MLE)
Tiago Splitter 2.2 M
Fab Oberto 3 M

Power Forward Salary

Tim Duncan 20.6 M
Matt Barnes 3.5 M
Ian Mahimni 1.1 M

Small Forward Salary

Bruce Bowen 4 M
Ime Udoka 1 M
Azubuike 2.2 M

Shooting Guard Salary

Joe Johnson 14.3 M
Brent Barry 1.4 M
Kareem Rush 2 M

Point Guard Salary

Tony Parker 11.6 M
Chris Duhon 3 M

Total Salary 73.9 M (5 M protected under the MLE)

You do know there is an offseason thread already right?

Anyways i can't see Pop ever trading Manu, he's too important to the team. Like Duncan, i think Pop will see out the rest of his career with TD, manu and Parker as the core then retire. However as we've discussed in the other thread i can see us going for Azubuike and Diop.

Neither the Spurs or Hawks would consider that.

OP, Barnes isn't a PF.

I don't like the sound of trading any of the Big 3. Everyone else is expendable.

Ginobili is crucial to the team. Johnson is a good player, but we don't need him.
