Our extended offensive droughts

Post#1 » by DBMethos » Thu May 22, 2008 11:32 am

I can't think of any other team in the league that goes through the offensive droughts that we do, even with the good offensive players that we have. Is it lack of focus, or lack of strategy? A more offense-minded assistant coach might not be a bad idea for the future.

Perhaps the Spurs are so good on Defense that they even do it to themselves...

Fin was horrible, true. Barry hit a shot, but he wasn't out there for long it seems. It's not like Fin's defense is that much better than Brent's, plus Brent is a much better passer, ball handler, and facilitator. So why did Fin get the lion's share of playing time last night???

BTW, I have no problem with 3's, as long as they come within the offense; i.e., working it inside to Duncan, help comes over, TD kicks it out to open shooter. But this passing around the perimeter to jack up a 3, especially early in the shot clock, is just bad offense.

We depend on the three ball too much for my liking at times...

Udoka chucked an awful contested 3 last night and Manu's 3 w/ 10 seconds left when a 2 was all we needed just took the cake. I would do anything to see TP and Manu playing a bit more to their strength and driving.

Penetration gets bigs in foul trouble, young grass hoppers.

Maybe its just me but I think the Spurs rely a little too much on Tim Duncan being double teamed to get their open 3s....

If he doesnt get doubled, they dont really get open shots... seems like the only other effective offensive options they have are Parker-Duncan pick and roll or let Manu iso

isnt that the "euro 2 step" that everyone is talking about. anyways, poor decisions is a big reason. finley taking fadaways with 18 left on the clock. not excuting fast enough and letting the defense collaspe is another one. lastly, i think confidence hurts us the most because we seem to panic during droughts.
