What do you gents think of James Jones?

I like his stroke but not sure how he shoots under pressure.

I wouldn't mind him at all..he'd probably be cheaper than a Pietrus or Childress too..

He did well with Portland initially, but wasn't as good after coming back from injury... was up and down with the Suns (that synthetic ball effected his rhytm the last season, maybe was hurt for a bit too then). Never stood out in the playoffs, from what I remember.

But I'd prefer to go after more creative offensive wings before guys like Jones...

I believe James Jones is more of a 3 point specialist than anything else. We still have Barry for that and it's not like Barry sucked it bad in the playoffs. I really think the Spurs should find a leaper of sort. either at the big position or SF.

If not Artest/JR Smith... I like one of Snyder, Azubuike, Delfino, Antoine Wright, Fred Jones, Ricky Davis (not for a lot of the MLE, though) with part of the MLE. All are above-average or better athletically, can do multiple things offensively (including shoot out to three), and none are poor defenders/rebounders.

I don't know about Pietrus just because it seems like he's going to command a significant amount of money.

I think in order for us to repeat, the following HAVE to happen:

Let go of Horry/Finely/Bonner/Oberto
Sign Artest, whatever it takes.
Go after an athletic guard who can help us now, not in 3-4 seasons, get Azabukie, Pietris or even Matt Barns.
Sign Diop, we need a legitimate 7 footer to stop Bynum and Howard, or else this season will go to waste.
Bring over Ian, he is ready.

Parker/Hill/Vahgn
Manu/Pietris/Barry
Artest/Bowen
Duncan/Ian
Diop/Thomas

if we have that lineup, we are a lock to win the title..so that's extremely unrealistic..

it would be impossible to acquire Artest AND Pietrus AND Diop..

there's nothing wrong with having Oberto as a backup big, he's a good player..

Well I think anything is an improvement given what little production Mike Finley gave us last season. He Jones can hit at the same rate he did in Portland I would welcome him over here... I like Pietrus more but at this point we can't be picky.

Synder don't really know him even though 2 years ago he had arguably the nastiest gunks of the season.

Fred I like his versatility and I used to be a Ricky fan really I still am its just the last two years on horrible teams he he's looked out of order

james jones definitely isnt my first choice, but i would happily have him here.

I got to see Snyder play when the Hornets were in OKC and he had about 15-20 straight games were he played really well. He is athletic but he wasnt too consistent with his jumpshot. After those 15-20 games he settled way too much on his jumper and took alot of bad shots. Now part of that was because that team was young and didnt have a go to scorer at the time. Their best wing players were Desmond Mason, Rasual Butler, and himself so that explains alot.lol. If he was able to get consistent with his jumper he would be a nice, cheap player to bring in. Thats just my opinion.

I think Snyder's improved on his jumpshot since then (2 years ago, and from seeing some games since then), and on this team he'd have a more set role within the offense. Which would equal less jumpshots, more smarter shots, and more of a balance and consistency in what he does offensively.

He just needs to have a fair oppurtunity to play, and hasn't been able to get that yet for one reason or another.

He's under 30.

He can shoot the long ball.

He's not named Michael Finley.

Like I said he was putting up lots of shots on a team that didnt have many perimeter scorers. Here would be completely different. I agree that he needs an opportunity. Once he got his opportunity with the Hornets he started playing well.

I really thought he'd get going with Houston, and he did for a bit there, but the hand injury, and then not being able to get back into the rotation after, ended what good he had going. Then of course last year for his time with Houston, there was just other more proven guys in front of him, and wasn't in the rotation. Did well with Minnesota from what I gathered, got to start multiple times.

He would be a nice backup for Prince but there must be bigger moves to be made for that team in my opinion.

Isn't Tayshaun the odd man out in Detroit? I remember seeing a wiretap article about how they were looking at moving him in the offseason.

Personally, I'd move Sheed or Billups instead.
