Who would come here for 1.85 million dollars?

Post#1 » by Blame Rasho » Thu Jul 10, 2008 12:56 am

Well given that we spent most of the MLE on Mason...

Who will sign with us at the amount?

I don't know who's available, but I'd go for the most athletic swingman available..worth a try..that isn't much money..

I wouldn't mind Brent of course, but isn't he gonna be targeted with the LLE?..

I can sit deep on the bench for 1.85 mil just like any other player we'd get.

Mason pretty much ends any chance at Barry, wouldn't you think? The Spurs didn't sign Mason and draft Hill so that they could sit on the bench. Where would Barry's minutes come from?

Yeah... I can't see Barry coming in and signing a contract with us given that we have a guy who can play both positions like him.

Jeremy Richardson
Tony Allen
Shannon Brown
Antoine Wright
Yakhouba Diawara
Juan Dixon
Jarvis Hayes
Brent Barry
Kirk Snyder
Fred Jones
CJ Miles

I'll be fine with any of those.

tony allen is injury prone, so that may work. antonie wright is severely under the radar, i think hes worth a look as well. miles is still a work in progress but he fits the young athletic swingman role.

Antoine Wright
Fred Jones
Devin Brown
Kirk Synder

I think they're all realistic for what we have left, and really like them all, relating to what we are looking for... especially now with Barry probably to the Rockets.

Like CJ Miles from the limited amount I know, seems like he'll stay with Utah, though.

Diawara I like a lot as a big defender and pretty athletic at SF, but his shot has not developed at all into a threat, he's had oppurtunities and two off-seasons now. Maybe he hasn't had enough rhythm/court-time to get it down enough...

Garbajosa??

I don't know if the Spurs need this kind of player but there have been some news today in Spain saying that Lakers and San Antonio have shown some interest on him.
He has confirmed that Lakers have asked about him (NO offer) but I havent heard anything about San Antonio from his mouth.

I definitely wouldn't mind Garbajosa.. he'd be more of a factor than Bonner and can do more... I dig Bonner's shooting and hustle for sure, but Garbajosa would be an upgrade.

Garbajosa and Oberto on the floor together would scare Pau and Amare :P

Trade Bonner to a team that needs shooting... Philly, Denver, Miami (to a lesser degree) (not expecting Haslem, but maybe a S/T with Dorell Wright, though he probably has some more value than Bonner)

Ricky Davis?

No, seriously. He can play. He's one hell of an upgrade over Finley, and due to his rep, he's gonna have a bitch of time getting a decent contract. He's 28, if he spends 2 years here upgrading his reputation by fitting in, he's got a shot at one more decent contract. So he's got incentive to behave. Not to mention that Pop will shove a size 11 up his ass if he doesn't... We've had success with low-end knuckleheads on the team before (SJax anyone?)

Bigs: Duncan, Thomas (Hopefully), Bonner, Oberto, Mahinmi, Gist
Wings: Bowen, Manu, Mason, Udoka, Davis, Hairston
PG's: Parker, Vaughn, Hill

That doesn't look to shabby to me, and he's a guy we could actually get...

I'd definitely like Davis, but I kind of doubt we have the cheese to sign him.

I could see him getting a short-term, smaller amount deal like you said pad, but I don't know. That'd be nice if it could work out like that.

agreed, would like to have him here but likely too expensive.. riley seems to like him too so im sure hes willing to dish out a 4 mil contract similar to jones. slim chance either way tho.

With his rep?! He's not getting more than 3,000,000 a season, and I wouldn't be surprised at the vet min...

Well he has cooled down since Cleveland, but it just seems with his ability he's probably going to get 4-5 million a year.

he hasnt contributed enough to his "poor attitude" personality so he should get around 4-5 million. he played well for the wolves last last year and was one of the consistent heat players last year. he'll probably get his money.
