Brent Barry quite possibly to Rockets

It looks as though Brent Barry will land in Houston for their bi-annual exception of $1.9 million, the East Valley Tribune is reporting.

Without Barry and Gordan Giricek, who will likely head to Europe for a more lucrative contract, the Phoenix Suns are still looking for help at the wing. To make matters worse, the Suns are already over the luxury tax.

The Suns are looking at former Blazer Darius Miles and Cavalier Devin Brown for help.

Looks to be a pretty key loss from recent times, oh well... he'll be a nice addition for Houston, Adelman will love him. But I am doubting the Rockets being a real force in the playoffs, they have some significant questionability.

Time to go get another one of the wing-men out there...

Barry is a great guy and he knows when it's time to move on. He makes the right decision by moving on...

Why do the rockets keep screwing us over? This sucks!

The rockets aren't screwing us over, they're picking up our table scraps.

Scola for a coke and a smile? Batum? Arguably our 2nd best player in the Lakers series?

That painfully sums it up.

I'm not that miffed about losing Barry. Because our wing-depth is going to be solid and improved. And while his play-making abilities and superior experience will be missed, we'll still have a lot of shooting, ultimately. Also him being pretty injury prone recently has put more than an average concern here and there for me when he plays, and is there now generally. Also I don't buy the Rockets as more than a 2nd-tier team yet, they have to prove a lot first,

I agree about the Rockets being a second tier team, but I feel that this year we will find ourselves as a second tier team right next to them.

If Houston ever beats us in a playoff series, with those guys playing prominent roles, maybe I'll feel a little worse about things. But in the mean time Scola's just a guy who was never going to be a Spur, trade or no trade, and Barry is an unfortunate but neccessary victim in the Spurs need to overhaul the supporting cast. Batum? That was Portland screwing us over. Not Houston.

Barry was a true professional for this team. He fit in perfect with the drive and kick. Him not being here will surely hurt. Unless you guys get another 3 point ace.

i agree, definitely one of my favorite spurs, no ace is on the horizon.. so we might be stuck with our current shooters which isnt too bad.

Just curious guys. Would you say that Finley is in the same boat or has he regressed past the point where he's even as good as Barry?

I can't quite say on now...

Barry's definitely been the better shooter between the two, but Finley wasn't as good last season, as he was before with us (in general, too). Finley of course has been the much more durable player between the two.

Finley may continue to be like 07-08 from now on, or return like he was the two seasons prior. May just turn out to be the former though, just because of getting older.

I see.

So if I threw out a few players in front of you like: Matt Barnes, Finley, Barry, Radmanovic, Walton, and Bonzi Wells where would you rank him?

Thanks for your time Ballings,

Jajwanda

Overall? Last.

Barnes
Barry
Wells
Radmanovic
Walton
Finley

If Walton gets the 3PT range he had back one or two years ago, I would switch he and Radmanovic, maybe even be right with Bonzi. Not sure why he lost that 3PT shot, I've wondered how it just vanished.

For a team, it of course depends what one or two areas you need to get better in. As well as that the weaknesses of the players are going to be lessened.

As a jumpshooter? Definitely top three.

Barry
Finley
Radmanovic
Barnes
Walton
Wells

I put Finley at #2 because of his mid-range game (spot-up/going left off-the-ball/one dribble)... maybe it's because I haven't seen as much of him, or his oppurtunties are more limited, but I don't remember much of an in-between game for Radmanovic. Threes, or sometimes driving and either scoring or passing, from game-to-game.

Walton's three ball has gone kaput ever since he become a bit brittle and injuries have really quickly taken their toll. Also the change back to the leather ball hurt a bit.

Radmanovic actually has more offensive talent than advertised. He just doesn't use it, which is extremely stupid. Drives me crazy when I watch him.

Reason I asked is because I used to like Finley a long while back, he was one of my favorite players. Sad to see him so pathetic right now.

I don't think Finley's "pathetic", as he's still a respectable and experienced shooter, at least. When his 3P shooting drops down to the lower 30s, then I'd say he'll be bad.

Yeah that's what it seems to be with the injuries for him now... and good point about the ball change, because I remember that's around when he had it going from three.
