Spurs to Sign Pargo?

One rumor circulating around a Western Conference front office on Monday afternoon was that Pargo had already, or was about to, agree to a deal with the Spurs.
However, Pargo's agent Mark Bartelstein acknowledged talks with the Spurs but said his client has yet to agree to a deal with anyone.
from the wiretap
might not be a bad signing, but with us already having Mason Jr. and Hill as combo guards off the bench I think we have other needs to address.

I`ll take him any day..I don`t mind having all those guards..we`d have 2 players that give us INSTANT offense in Pargo and Mason, something we need..
not gonna happen though..there are rumors of good players signing with the Spurs all the time..they use us for leverage..

Not going to expect him to sign..
But if he does that would be a nice move to help the offense and bench depth. Not a bad defender, and has above-average experience (see Bulls/Wiz 05, and these past playoffs). Has some toughness to him.

do you guys think theres a trade in the works involving vaughn, or the FO is no longer optmistic about hill producing this year.

yeah im not going to get my hopes up on this. i would love to get him though. He can put points on the board fast and he is very quick and uses that to press people full court. If we get him i'm kinda worried we are going to be alot smaller at the wings this year.

If they sign Pargo, there has to be a trade afterwards. If we sign Pargo and stand pat, the backcourt would be the smallest in the NBA. We'd be playing small ball and not even try to.

Like some hav esaid here already, if Pargo did sign with us you could expect a trade afterwards. We would need some size in a bad way. Right now, I'm not impressed at all with the way we have not addressed our rebounding problem that stood out against the Lakers.

I feel similar, SMRattler. But I think Mahinmi could be a significant help in rebounding.
He's the back-up PF right now, and I have my doubts that Bonner has that slot locked up. Nor would that be that good, aside from his shooting and hustle, because we need a guy who brings a presence defensively and on the boards, behind Duncan.
I'd like to see us get a bit more size and versatility on the wing, too. Some decent FA options out there, still.

This potential signing doesn't exactly excite me because Pargo really wouldn't fill a need for this team. That said, however, Pargo is one of the best players left on the market and adding depth to the team cannot hurt.
Before the draft I would have been pysched at potentially signing Pargo because the man can flat out score the basketball. He is the type of player who would help out tremendously during our trademark dry spells. Best of all he doesn't need other people to find opportunities for him.

I think our rebounding looked a lot better when KT was in vs. LA..I'm surprised Pop didn't play him more..
either way, Mahinmi will be key against ANY team in that area..our 4 "rookies" are gonna be very important for our success this year..
I still want Pargo though..we need guys that can score in streaks..

If this signing goes through I think Pop is gonna look to Pargo to be what Damon wasn't last year. A point who can hit shots (ok, so it might not work in game 7s) and create offense. I think it would be great to be able to have 2 out of the big 3 sitting at the same time without the offense becoming stagnant. It's also probably a recognition that Hill won't be able to contribute as much as a championship team would need him to (as few rookies can). Gotta have faith in the Spurs FO, and I think it'd be a big step in making this team better next year

I think he sucks... I don't want 4 pg on the team. We need a swing player more than a 4th point guard.

InsideInfo wrote:I spoke to a source of mine....sorry i cant say who it is, but they told me that Pargo wants to stay in the NBA and sign with the spurs who are offing 2M a year. The reason he hasnt signed yet is because he also has an offer on the table from Europe to play for 4M per year.
Pargo doesnt want to leave the NBA but playin in Europe is tax free because the club pays your taxes.....gettin 4M overseas would be the same as him getting 6M a season in the NBA
Im pretty sure pargo is going to stay in the NBA and go wherever he can make the most money, but that is an awful lot of money for him to turn down.

Heh, with the overseas stuff now for the role-players, I'm not that surprised he chose Europe....

I'm not surprised either. He was considering a deal over there somewhere last year.
