Season Opener : Spurs v Suns

Post#1 » by the southern dandy » Wed Oct 29, 2008 9:56 am

I'm really looking foward to this because it will be one of the few Spurs games actually shown in Australia. I'm eager to see a few new things;
* The new, much lighter Michael Finley
* Some extended minutes from Roger Mason jr.
*An appearance from Desmon Farmer would be nice.
*I want to see the Spurs go back to a little four down and make Tim Duncan the focus again.
*Minutes for Hill would be nice, especially if he's d'ing up against Nash.

I'm rather disappointed that I won't be able to see Anthony Tolliver in action, but that's understandable with the situation he's facing.

Hopefully the Spurs can put together a victory. If anyone unexpected particularly catches my eye, I might just have to remove Dick Pepperfield from my avatar.

1- pick and roll all day when Shaq is on the floor..
2- Duncan posting up whenever Shaq is off..

2 basic strategies..

Can't wait for this game its going to be an interesting one. Seeing how the Suns will operate in more of a half court offense is going to be interesting. The benches are going to be the difference in this game, whoever's bench plays the best is going to win this game. Lets hope TP and Duncan have big games tonight.

Suns fan here...Not trolling, just found out Oberto is out 2 games. Wondering your thoughts on how this may effect game 1?

Spurs signed a bunch of soft Big men and look where it got them

bring over Darko/Brad Miller/ Greg Foster anybody to fill in the C position next to Duncan

Well we are really short handed( Gino,Ian,Hill,Oberto are going to be out by most reasonable guesses) and I guess the irony is that we might actually play small ball. Thomas has been banged up as well and I am not sure if he can handle 30 plus mins.

It isn't string theory, so I wonder how Porter will react to it. Coach Mike D never had a clue what to do.

I think the irony is that we might go small ball vs them with their new big lineup.

Mason and Bonner are looking good off the bench for us.

Its still a close one at the half.

I just wanted to stop by and ROFLMAO at Pops.

Finley's foul was GREAT, and the thumbs-up was even better.

That was some funny stuff. :D

This sucks man, TD has no help down low...fkn bonner doghouse damn it.

bowen was a liability on the court didnt shut down anyone...
our backcourt, needed more production from them
roger needs to throw up shots instead of giving them up, we dont want another barry here afraid of putting up shots.
parker :( this aint nbalive stop throwing up alot of shots...

expected a blowout win for the suns, oh well close game anyway even without oberto/ginoboli...even though oberto is useless like bonner anyway....

we should trade trash for trash damn it

Well that sucks... I can't remember the last time we lost on opening night.

We were right there but the Suns were better tonight.

TD and Parker were beastly but we need to get production from someone else. Mason did better than expected in his debut, but outside of him there isn't anyone who can get his own shot.

Bonner seems scared of shooting and it effects him on both ends of the court.

Finley looked way skinnier..

We need a bigman. I hope Ian somehow gives us something this year.
