It appears to me that we are a front court player away from another championship.

Not even a great player but a good player. By good I mean a player that can do two things ....one of them needs to be: score. as in score and rebound, like a Troy Murphy. I guess he can do three things if you count shoot the three cause he can board.

Tim obviously needs some help up front.

Hill and Mason could have gotten us past the Lakers LAST YEAR.
THIS YEAR it seems to me we need one more big.

I don't know anymore, to be honest..

I was in the same boat until last week..I seriously feel that if Ian is good enough to come off the bench and get us good minutes, Bonner is enough in the starting lineup..this is a new Bonner that is playing aggressively on both sides, and is rebounding better and better..

the best part about Bonner is that he'll take the other team's big men out of the paint..that's going to be a huge factor in the playoffs, especially against a team like LA..

a better big man is obviously ideal, but it doesn't look like we have the assets to get a deal done..

It all depends on Ian.
Thomas has been giving us ok minutes nothing spesh, but we aren't paying him alot so i can live with that.
If Ian can come in and give us a fresh pair of legs, grab some boards make some athletic plays while averaging say 6 and 6 or there abouts we should be ok.

We don't really have alot of assets to trade, however i'd be all for a trade that involved Oberto and Udoka

We'll see how things go with Ian, though, I'm not ruling him out to be enough, but it's just up in the air...

We just need a guy who has some size and is agile, which is what were basically missing up front. Like where Horry used to fill that role as a defender, rebounder, and adequate offensive player as a big man with some athleticism. Ian would fill that, assuming he doesn't play too young, so would Smith or Moore. Though probably not as much on the boards for Moore. But maybe having Duncan and a more experienced, smarter team around Moore would help his rebounding out.

Bonner I like, but I don't know about it just being him, Oberto, and Thomas for helpers on defense and rebounding to Tim.

Regardless, we need a different type of big man than we have right now, which is a guy who has size and agility.

What about Melvin Ely, we've already had him here before so a familiar face, he shouldn't demand to much in terms of trade assets, and he's in the mould of that agile big guy, (unfortunatly for us he'd also probably be our 2nd best post scorer too...)

I prefer Bonner over all these guys..

we have a superstar PF that prefers to play inside..he's still a great rebounder and defensive player..Bonner is perfect IMO..he stretches out the defense, which will take somebody out of the paint..most of his shots are from outside, which causes long rebounds, and we have good rebounding backcourt players this year..it allows Parker and Ginobili to have an easier time getting inside..

when we need toughness inside, we can bring KT off the bench for some minutes..

I wouldn't mind Joe Smith at all, but not Mikki Moore..I absolutely hate his game, and he seems way too soft to fill the role we would need him to fill..

Over the past few games in D-league it appears that Tolliver has found his stroke from three point range. I've been a big fan of Tolliver since the Spurs signed him and I really like the agility and speed he brings to the defensive end. Hopefully he gets another shot at some point during the season.

At some point Ian will have to get a shot, provided he gets healthy some time this decade. We all know how much potential he has to help out our aging frontline.

Another option if neither of our rookies pans out is Dikembe Mutombo. Sure he may be ancient, but his shot blocking and rebounding would be assets that this team is starving for. He's stated that he wants to return and the Spurs would appear to be an option.

I'd really like to see our rookies given a chance over the likes of Oberto, who has admittedly played a lot better in the past few games, and KT, who has regressed a lot and appears to merely be a spot player now.

Mutombo is very old, but as has been shown in this latter part of his career, including last season, he's still an above-average defensive presence. I'm surprised Houston hasn't signed him back yet, considering they have no height or length when Yao is out of the game.

In the wiretap, The Mount, wants to come to Boston, Miami or San Antonio.
We just released Blake Ahearn to make room as well, maybe TSD has some Nostradamus thing going.

If you're strictly looking for some one that can score and rebound, the Knicks would likely send Eddy Curry to San Antonio for Oberto, Bonner, and Vaughn's contracts that expire before 2010. If Bonner doesn't pull a Jerry Stackhouse, the Knicks would even agree to waive Bonner so he can re-sign with the Spurs.

I am not a fan of Deke... I want to get younger but I have been wrong before and maybe he can find a niche here.

I agree that we should get younger, but who are the options? Mutombo is a much better guy to have on your team than anybody in the D-League..

I like Bard Miller, Chris Wilcox, or Joe Smith for the job. I like the idear of Miller and Duncan in he same front court much more that Smith and Duncan

Considering what the Spurs have done the past 2 offseasons it sure looks like they're looking at 2010 as well. I doubt they'd be interested in Curry.

The Spurs need someone who can bang down low with the 7-footers. Someone who can go toe to toe with guys like Bynum, Shaq, Chandler, Oden (for at least a few minutes). Scola's a good player, but he's not that guy. Besides, even if he were I'm pretty sure the Rockets don't want to give him back.

It could happen. We just need 15 minutes of decent defense and rebounding. Only difference would be that after 15 minutes Deke would be exhausted and Ian would have fouled out.

Yeah... we need some quality mins from our center position given that Oberto has been out and I just don't quite trust Thomas for the long haul.
