Re: Where is everyone?
As a Blazer fan I was hoping for a Spurs win over Denver to help us in the NW standings...Why is only half the Spurs team playing?

Re: Where is everyone?
As much as I hate the Spurs and all their players.....I have so much respect for Gregg Popovich. I he is the best coach in the NBA and the Spurs are honestly the best run franchise in all of professional sports. Pop is a mastermind and a true champion. I don't there is another coach who would rest it's top 4 players in a very winnable game against a conference rival who they could be battling with for playoff position, especially when it's the game that decided a potential tie-breaker situation.
You could say he was just resting his players after an OT win last night....but they also don't play for 5 days after tonight, so that's a weird time to rest guys. I personally think it could just be him playing mind games and not wanting to let the Nuggets face their team at full strength, hoping his bench guys could keep it close(which they did) and get into the heads of the Nuggets for if/when they meet in the playoffs. I personally love it, the guy is a absolute genius.
Definitely didn't make half the crowd tonight happy though. It was Hispanic heritage night and there were seriously at least 5,000 Spurs "fans" in the house. Tons of people with Argentina flags and ****(also a lot of Brazilians with their flag, and the Lithuanian mafia was there too...but that was for the Nuggets' guys).

Re: Where is everyone?
We were probably going to lose anyway seeing as how it's a back-to-back road game against a good team, so Pop probably just figured he'd rest some key players.
I'm surprised the game was as close as it was.

I think it would be pretty reasonable to say that we would have loss vs the Nuggets on a back to back even with everyone playing. Pop isn't really concerned about the regular season. It served it purpose. Hill and Harison got some more PT. Mason has proven to be more than capable to be a starter worthy player.

Agreed. Besides, if anyone has earned the benefit of the doubt it's Pop. If he thinks it's in his team''s best interests to sit those guys then that's what he needs to do.

Pop is so mastermind.
Resting all his starters in a game that they play a division leader.

Re: Where is everyone?
we have always had the mental edge on Denver.
The last time we played them full strength we beat them by 17. This season Manu and TP were injured. Pop is just not letting them get a reading on how close they are to us in case of a playoff meeting. Keep them guessing, and seeing as they only just beat a team without the 4 vets playing they can't be feeling that confident about playing us again.
It doesn't really matter that much anyway, barring Kobe going psycho and killing half the team the Lakers will win the west and the spurs will have a top four spot on merit of likely winning the Southwest and he keeps a major rival in the dark about where they are at againsts us and probably damaged a bit of there confidence in the process, all that in return for a loss that we were likely to have suffered at full strength anyway, after the overtime game v.s the warriors.
