The Lakers are the best team in the West.

The Spurs WERE cearly the 2nd best earlier this Spring... in a few short weeks, they have managed to prove they are now no better than the other 6 teams getting into the playoffs in their Conference.

It was the Lakers and Spurs and everyone else.

Now it's Lakers and everyone else in the West. Any of us capable of beating the other on any night. Toss up games really.

We managed to play our best basketbal way too early and are fading fast.

Outlook: We don't win our Dvision and slide down to (if we are lucky, no lower than) the 4th spot. That would probably pit us against the Hornets who might bounce us in the first. Maybe we slide to 5th and give NO the homecourt to boot. Even if we get past first round, Lakers would crush us after that. Lakers will cruise through the West, might even be the easiest trip to the Finals we've seen from the West team in a while.

No excuses.

unfortunately this is pretty possible.
Spurs might even fall down to #6. if this means they meet Denver in the 1st round, I would prefer this scenario over ending up #4 and meet either Houston or NO.
if they get Denver in the 1st round and Utha in the 2nd round (Utha could be able to beat Houston in the 1st round), this might be the best chance to somehow sneak into the CF. (where they would be destroyed by the Lakers)

I'm not quite ready to do a post mortem just yet, esp on a still warm body.

We are not in the same class as LA, clearly. But then neither are the six other west playoff teams.

To be honest, and this really sucks as a Spurs fan, it's a 3 horse race between the Lakers, Cavs and Celts for the title. The rest are just making up the numbers. Unfortunately that includes us.

If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on the Cavs. I think Bron is going to tear it up in the playoffs.

If in fact we are done as contenders, well it was a hell of a run, and we got 4 rings for our trouble. Hard to complain about that.

4 championships is amazing. But I'm still counting on you to compete for that 5th.

The lakers must not win another!!

I'm looking forward to our upcoming game in San Antonio. The Spurs will be on a back to back, and Portland will have their shot at winning the season series with San Antonio, and getting HCA.
