"Insert-Opponent" Game Thread

Since we don't usually have game threads, thought I would create a floating game thread we can use to drop comments about the next upcoming game, current game being played or the just completed game.
Better than nothing!

Sunday April 5, 2009!
Today's game is the Cavs!!!
Anyone see this being anything but a loss? Cleveland has just lost two in a row, going hime where they only lost one all year, Spurs are not playing well...
You never know. Go-Spurs-Go!!!!

Spurs still playing like crap. The offense is inconsistant and not in a good flow. Defensively, they allowed transition points from the Cavs and are not doing a good job rotating to their man on defense.

We are not contenders.
Not with TD less than himself and not with that pathetic defense.
Period.
Cavs did what they should do to a team playing like a .500 team right now.

good idea SMRattler.
Todays game against the Cavs was a disaster, we really looked slow and tired. The Cavs killed us in transition and we had no answers for Williams and James. Poor defensive effort and poor offensive effort today.

Yup, poor effort I saw too. No sense of urgency.
But the worst part was just looked like we have no answers on defense. We seem to not have any idea how to slow teams down.
Not just Cavs, anyone. Not just great or even good teams, anyone!
We had the Pacers down 12 going into the 4th and they go off for 40 on us? We had no defense that we could throw at them to slow them down. Nothing. We get close to the Cavs in the 4th, they play with urgency and we lose by 20?
What are the Lakers, Hornets, Jazz, Rockets, Denver or whoever going to do to us in the 4th of a tight playoff game when THEY kick it into another gear with urgency?
We used to match that urgency with perfect rotations and solid D. We have a bag of nothing right now.

It's embarrassing to watch this team lately. This is the worst our D has been in the TD era.

It was sad and boring.
I can't decide if they're are really sucking or on mediocre-team-cruise-control or something...

Are we adopting a team wide Horry policy, nothing in the regular season, clutch in the playoffs.
We are playing aweful, we should be kicking into gear at this time, not struggling into final stretch.
Pop is 2 games away from having his own Brawl at the Palace moment.

Hopefully we rebound from that horrible loss tonight against the Thunder.
Anyone know where I can watch the game online tonight?

What happened against the Blazers tonight? First the Spur had the lead, then they lost ground along with the game.

Spurs came out with a great start... 19 point lead... down to almost nothing by halftime and then faded late.
We should get used to this sort of thing for the remainder of this season probably.

It reminded me of the Laker game in the playoffs... game one..

Probably more than one playoff game against the lakers last year went like that... strong start, not enough left in them to fend off the comeback.
Seriously, if the young Blazers and sorry teams like the Thunder and Pacers can storm back on us like they have lately, what will more seasoned playoff teams do to us?
Not looking forward to Utah game tonight.

I see it like this: in years past, no Pop lead team would let a sorry team like the Pacers score 121 on us.
This and the lost lead vs the Blazers are just two pieces of evidence that point to our decline into mediocrity.

Utah Game
==========
Did you guys catch this one?
Interesting to see how much different TD looked as far as movement in this game versus the last one. It;s weird, one game he looks like he can barely move and then another game he looks like he moves decently.
He only had 14 on 5-11 shooting and we are not going to beat many playoff teams rebounding like we did and have shown lately but we held them to under 100.
The win was all about TP I think, he loked great. I was just talking about this with a freind of mine this week, he was saying how TP hates playing big physical PGs like Chauncey, etc. And I pointed out that he USED TO let them get the better of him but at this point in his career, he is very determined to counter their advantage with a whole lotta speed on the other end. This was an example of that, DWill looked awesome at times and really showed his muscle, but TP would attack the other end almost every time he did, very aggresive and went to the line a ton.
This is how we have to win games now. We dont have Manu and cant count on the usual TD. We need guys like Mason, Bonner, Fin (yikes) to contribute scoring. Then we still need some surprise contribution from guys like Thomas, Gooden and whoever (in this case it was Udoka).

We played well last night against the Jazz, didn't rebound that well but played good overall. TP looked great once again he really attached DWil on offense and I loved that, sometimes the best defense is a good offense.

A couple of wins on the West coast... Season finale against the Hornets.
This game will decide more than just two playoff seeds maybe.
Should be fun.

Big game against the Hornets tonight they've lost 5 of their last 7 so hopefully they continue that losing trend. We need to win and the Rockets need to lose so we can get that # 3 seed.

Yeah we need to avoid that #4-5 slot. If we finish #3, we get NO right? They're banged up, I think we can take them. Plus at 3 we'd avoid LA in the 2nd round.
