'09 Playoffs: The Others

I thought we could have a thread where we discuss the 7 other 1st round playoff series, with predictions, discussions, thoughts, opinions etc.

Lakers vs Jazz. I'm expecting a snoozer. Jazz are banged up and are rubbish on the road. The Lakers are the Lakers; and although I desperately want them to lose at some point in the postseason, the Jazz won't be the team to do it. Lakers in 4.

Nuggets vs Hornets. This could be a good series. The Nuggets are looking pretty decent, although I find it hard to take a George Karl coached team all that seriously. Any team with Chris Paul on it will be competitive. I'm glad we didn't draw NO in the 1st round. But the Hornets are struggling a bit with injury lately. These guys are in our bracket, so if we get past Dallas one of these two is waiting for us. Anything's better than the Lakers. I say Nuggets in 6.

Blazers vs Rockets. I'm really looking forward to this matchup. The Blazers ended the season hot and could cause a few problems for Houston, and the Lakers in the next round if they advance. The big question is playoff experience, as in the only player in their rotation that has any is Blake. The Rockets play great D and Yao should abuse Oden and Pryzbilla in the post. Hard to pick this one. I'll say Rockets in 7.

Cavs vs Pistons. This could be over really quickly. The Pistons have looked bad pretty much all yr. The Cavs are absolutely rolling and look to be set to get back to the Finals. Cavs in 4.

Celtics vs Bulls. The Bulls did well to secure a playoff spot, and the trade for Salmons and Miller has worked out well for them. But it's hard to imagine the defending champs losing more than one or games in this series. Assuming KG is ready to go, I'd say Celtics in 5.

Magic vs 76ers. I'd rather watch paint slowly dry than watch this series. I caught the Sixers-Bulls game last week and had trouble staying awake. Hopefully Orlando wrap it up in a hurry. Magic in 4.

Hawks vs Heat. This could be interesting. Wade is playing on a Godly level, though he hasn't got a great deal of help. The Hawks have plenty of athletic players and have fairly balanced scoring. I think this is the only first round series in the east that could go the full seven games. I'll say Hawks in 7.

Bulls might have a chance to upset the Celtics now that KG is out. I think Tyrus Thomas can really cause cause some problems for the Celtics and if John Salmons can get healthy this might be an interesting series.

I hope Jazz can really cause some trouble for Lakers. But maybe I am asking too much.

Derrick Rose is a ****ing basketball god.

Ray Allen was painful to watch in G1.

I didn't expect the Rockets to beat the Blazers by 30 at the Rose Garden.

My god how good is Derrick Rose, jesus. Doing that to the champs. Unless, he really could get this bulls side past the C's without Garnett playing.

Ariza had a good game against the Jazz today, Lakers look like they're going to walk all over the Jazz.

Billups is a beast.

Wade with the great Game 2 after an average Game 1. J O'Neal is hard to watch.

Billups is killing the Hornets, 12 of 15 from the 3 in the series. Hornets are really going to have to pick up their defense if they want to at least make this interesting.

Bulls pull out the double OT win to even up the series with the Celtics.

The Rockets-Blazers series is great. It's hard to watch Scola play so well when he should've been doing so in a Spurs jersey. Oh well.

Brandon Roy is a superstar. Yao seems no more than a glorified role player in this series.

Good to see the Bulls take the C's in double OT to even the series. I hope they can pull out the series win, that would be sweet.

Hawks with a big win tonight to even the series. Pachulia had a great game off the bench for them (12 points 18 boards) I really want this guy on our team next year.

Denver layed a beatdown on the Hornets tonight, makes me feel a little bit better about what happened to us in game three.

Cavs with the destruction of the Pistons. Sheed to possibly retire?

Does anyone actually think us or the Mavs have any hope against the Nuggets? They're playing fantastic ball at the moment.

Neither of us stand a chance against the Nuggets. Billups is playing outstanding on both sides of the ball and neither one of us has anyone that can stop Melo.

It is impressive given that I think that Karl is an obtuse coach.

Celtics and Bulls go into overtime again tonight, this series has been unreal.
