What would have happened if....

Post#1 » by manoyski » Sun May 17, 2009 5:10 pm

What would have happened to the Spurs franchise if

a. Kidd signed with S.A
b. Scola were playing for S.A instead of Houston
c. Manu was not injured

Dynasty???

We're already a dynasty anyway, but:

a). Kidd's signing would likely have meant Parker would walk, and that would of left us with a 35 yo PG with no jump shot, instead of a Top 3 PG that we have now (and only 26).

b). We'd all love to have Scola but no point crying over it now, it's done.

c). Injuries are part of the game. Even if he were available in these playoffs, I still think we'd of been a 2nd round team at best. We would've beat the Mavs but not the Nuggets. It just wasn't our year.

I'm a spurs fan. I know that we are already a dynasty but with questions especially from some other guys in the media. What I was thinking when i said DYNASTY was as in Russell's Celtics Dynasty or MJ's Bulls Dynasty caliber and not the every other year reign that we had.

Well, youre right no point crying over it that none of those things have happened. We need to find new pieces to our aging Duncan and not put too much pressure on TP.

This is a big concern for me. Parker's been asked to do a lot these past couple of years, and he's definitely risen to the challenges Pop's laid out for him. But I worry about the amount of minutes and how hard he plays out there. He's been in the NBA since he was what, 19? He's already got a lot of miles on him. This year is the first season since he's been in the league that he's vacationing in May.

If Manu is 100% (or close to that) by training camp, and we get some help for TD, this will take some pressure off Parker.

With the 28th pick in the 2004 nba draft the sa spurs select Chris Duhon Duke
With the 28th pick in the 2005 nba draft the sa spurs select david lee from Florida
With the 33th pick in the 2007 nba draft the sa spurs select Glen Davis LSU
You can what if all day long but that gets old.

I don't think we would be a dynasty. There is a lock that we win 2 championships as well after 2003.
