MLE for a PF/C? or are Holt and Pop done?

It seems too much to ask for us to sign one of Wallace, Pachulia, Gortat, Frye, or AV.
Do you think we are done?
What do you think happens to our frontcourt from here?

If you guys managed to get McDyess and some more big man depth. It would be easy street to the conference finals with the Lakers.
McDyess would be PERFECT for this team at this point. Does all the little things, rebounds, can score when called upon, hits the open J's, and plays with HEART. He's hungry, he'd be perfect.
Sheed would be nice too, but Sheed is Sheed. McDyess is the better player at this point with the better attitude. Sheed does hit 3's and play elite defense though.

They can't be done yet, even if they are over the luxury tax, you ride duncan into retirement at all cost. Who knows when, if ever, the spurs will have championships on their minds when Duncan finishes.

I think the Jefferson trade is a sign the Spurs are going for broke with the last few years of Duncan's status as an elite player. Exciting times for a Spurs fan.

After a little thought I think we may sign someone in the 2 mil range to play next to Duncan other than Ian, and Bonner.
Maybe we brin back Gooden. I like that kid from the Lakers. Josh Powell he eats up open jumpshots like pancakes on sunday morning.

I like the fact that we just said **** our 2010 plan... we are in it for the right now. I hope we sign Sheed or Dice. Gorat would also be an interesting guy to look at. There is also Splitter... but that is more like a pipedream than realistic.

Go for broke. Not a Gooden fan, but if the Spurs bring him back, then fine. If not, focus on Sheed, Dice, Frye, and Pachulia if you're the Spurs. Come July 1st, strike hard and fast. Til then, make good in the draft. Get after Danny Green for the #37pick and for the #51 pick try Jeff Pendergraph, Ahmad Nivins, or Slava Kravtsov.

How much would Gooden ask? Otherwise try for McDyess or Sheed.

I doubt the Spurs settle for a frontcourt rotation of Duncan and Bonner/Mahinmi.
I think if the Spurs can't bring Rasheed, they'll go for plan B which is resigning Gooden.

I'm not a big Gooden fan either.I also agree with your choices for pick #51. I prefer Zaza first, he's a good rebounder and only 25yrs old. For a center that age he still has a lot of room to develop. Second opiton is trying to get either Dice or Sheed and match him along with Ian. I would be open to trading Mason for frontcourt help. Only if, the Spurs were able to trade up or stay at 37 and get either Green, Young, Ellington, Brown,Daye, Budinger or INT SF's (Casspin,Claver,Jerebko. However, I want a promise by those international players that they will not go overseas.

The Raptors seem hopeful about bringing Rasho back next year for somewhere between the vet minimum and the LLE. In the period when Bosh went down, in the 07-08 season, he averaged about 15/8. We all love the guy. He also lives in Toronto the off season.
But as a back-up and occasional starter, it would really make sense for him to go back to Spurs for a year while you wait for Splitter. Toronto's not going to challenge for the championship anytime soon. If Manu comes back strong, Spurs' window should still be open. Do you guys want him?
[edit] Also, Toronto fans really loved Pops Mensah Bonsu in his short stay with us. The crowd gave him a standing ovation in one game. But now with the trade for Reggie Evans, there's no room on the roster for another rebounding energy guy. You've already seen him, he could be a cheap pick-up.

spurs need a big 7'0
not another undersized pf/c...
splitter aint comin over this year, so it looks like lowballing for a veteran or spending the whole MLE...spurs will be in the tax for 2 yrs max i think....but its worth it.

Gortat would be a good fit for sure. However, i consider him as a big risk because he probably wants a long term MLE contract and he could be underpaid in years from now if he does well as a starter or he could turn out to be the next jerome james.
What i am trying to say is that the Spurs most likely can“t afford to sign long-term an unproved starter.
With that in mind, Rasheed Wallace is the best possible signing for the Spurs.

We need a center to start next to Duncan, Gortat or Pachulia would be great. If we can add one of those two and have Blair/Bonner come off the bench and add someone else for the vet min I think we'll be looking pretty good.

Pistons fan here. I think that McDyess would fit the Spurs perfectly, and honestly I hope you sign him, because I don't think there is a player who deserves a championship before he retires more. Since you are a contender, he may well sign for less than the MLE.

get sheed for the minimum, thats what he said last season he will play for with the spurs...
and trade mason + bonner + finley + future pick for camby....
fill the rest of the roster with the young rookies....

Do you think there is a chance of both, McDyess and Wallace agreeing to sign with the Spurs? !!! I know they would get their minutes and they could a chance to win another title.
Most likely, it wont happen but i dont think the idea is extremely crazy.

Sheed is going to want to get paid. If he doesn't get at least the MLE I'd imagine he'll retire. If the Spurs were to sign him for the MLE, I'd not be shocked to see Dyess follow for the vet minimum. I think that may well make the Spurs first among equals as a championship contender.
On the other hand, they could also both go to Cleveland. Not sure there'd be any stopping LeBron then.

I think Shaq will alter big man signings in Cleveland. I think we are looking better and better to FA bigs. We offer minutes and championships.
