Spurs will be 2009-2010 NBA Champs

Post#1 » by Chocolate City Jordanaire » Mon Jul 6, 2009 6:56 pm

The Spurs will bounce back on many levels and win the championship this season.

First, SA got Jefferson for next to nothing. He'll defend and score at an elite level as a Spur. Next, they got two of the most underrated rookies for next to nothing. Blair is going to be the best rebounder in the league, eventually. What's going to be a major surprise is how efficiently he'll score in the paint. McClinton arguably is arguably a better three point shooter than Stephen Curry. Now they've added a scoring big with athleticism, Haislip. MVP overseas and high scorer in the Spanish league, Haislip's better than he was as a lottery selection years back.

The Spurs can probably bank on better health for Parker and Ginobili this season. All the new guys are stronger on talent than the likes of the aging Bowen, Thomas, and Oberto. They will make life easier for Duncan because the bigs will bring it now.

I like the Spurs to win the title because unlike the Cavs, Magic, Celtics, and Lakers; the Spurs didn't make major chemistry changes and they brought in role players with energy instead of stars who'll change the dynamic of the team.

Mark my words: Blair was the steal of the draft.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

I wish I had your optimism. I think we're still 1 quality big man away from being contenders.

I hope your right. But I feel the same as DBMethos we need one more big man to truley become a legit contender again.

I tend to agree with this, but I think if healthy we have enough pieces to win it all. We've won the chip with less before.

You don't think the spurs have to fit Richard in the system?

I believe that it takes more talent to win these days. Look at the players on the top teams.

Boston: Sheed, KG, Ray Allen, & Wheel Chair Pauly

Orlando: Howard, Rashard, Vince, & Nelson

Spurs: Tim, RJ, Parker, and Ginosebleed

Lakers: Kobe, Bynum, Pau, Odom, Artest

Denver: Melo, Chauncey, Kenyon, Nene, JR

Cavs: Lebron, Shaq, Mo

Loading up on talent does not guarantee a ring. The Lakers of 2004 are a prime example.

Without one more quality big, I think we're a 2nd tier Championship contender. As it is, this team is too weak upfront to be counted on in the playoffs.

Every team has it's flaws. Even champions. The Lakers are weak at the point for example.

We can win with what we've got - if healthy. I have no doubts about that.

Bonner+Finley+Mason for Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Start Manu, give McClinton good minutes as backup SG, resign Udoka as the backup SF.

Parker/Hill
Manu/McClinton
Jefferson/Udoka
Duncan/Blair/Haislip
Z/Mahinmi

Derek Fisher is no more a weak link than Avery Johnson was to us. Fisher's no stud and PG is the weakest position for the Lakers, but the position wasn't a weakness. It was solid/decent

Our Center lineup rite now... Blair, Bonner, Mahinmi, Haislip... That's weak and you can arguably say it's the weakest in the whole league. It's not even close to being Decent. It's damn weak.

Blair, I bet, is gonna go thru what all physical rookie bigs go thru. Foul Trouble. He'll be alrite in a 15 minutes basis, but as it is, who's gonna play the rest of the minutes? Mahinmi has shown us nothing and deserve no more than 15 minutes a game. Same with Haislip. Bonner should never be a starter.

If this is the bigs we'll have when the season start, we'd be better off playing each guy a quarter. That's how weak it is.

There still will be roster moves happening before the season starts, as of right now we need a few pieces though. Once we get two or three more players, maybe even turn bonner/finley into another player we will be good to go

Well, nice, another Lakers vs. Spurs series deep in the playoffs ! Can't wait for that !

You definitely got some talent around that will help you improve, but, not that I think the Spurs don't have a chance at the title next year, they do have some nice chances.

It's just premature to talk about that and the western conference is deadly.

The title of the thread sounds offensive to Laker fans, Denver fans, Orlando fans, Celtic fans etc.

You may say I'm trolling, but i just wanted to congratulate you with getting Mcdyess, but saw this thread and couldn't skip to put my opinion here... :D
