How good is Manu going to be this year?

How good do you think Manu Ginobili will be this year?

We all have concerns about his healthy but one thing people are missing is its a contract year for Manu. Traditionally nba players do really well during contract years. I fully expect him to go all out to get that last big contract.

Not trying to be smart ass or anything, but I feel like Manu's time has passed. He has aged rapidly these last couple of years and isn't expected to ever be the player he once was. Same thing goes for Duncan...except to a much lesser degreeconsidering the BIG FUNDAMENTAL can continue sticking with the basics of basketball to carry him through whatever further decline he will have next season.

I think he'll be just fine. He's going to get an abundance of rest from this offseason (no international ball, responsibilities, etc) and by alternating minutes with two decent guys in Mason and Finley. This could possibly be the first time in which Ginobili is not needed on the court for 30 minutes due to the overflow of perimeter talent, a luxury that the Spurs were deprived of during their title runs. If Ginobili can come in and do his thing night in and night out while staying injury free then the Spurs got as good a shot as anyone to come out of the West.

You know Manu might be done but I am more worried about what he is going to do next year than this year.

Remember this year is a contract year. He's not going to tell the coaching staff if he's hurt or not he's going to go out there and put up big numbers so he can get one more big payday. If he is injured how much money do you think he is going to lose.

I am curious since the spurs have offered manu no extension if he'll request to start or at the least put in big minutes. He has to figure the spurs aren't a lock to resign him having spent 14 mil on Jefferson.

Spurs are just like every other team they will chew you up and spit you out. Anyone remember when David took a less than max deal (which he could have asked for max) then when his next contract came up the spurs tried to low ball him big time. Manu needs to worry about his future. If the spurs can't pay him someone else must.

Just saying he may be more reluctant to come off the bench than in years past.

Hard to tell how he's going to go.

He's rested, it's not an Olympic year so I imagine he'll be back to his old form, or some facsimile of it at least. He's hit that age where it could go south at any time though.

There's the catch... Ginobili isn't your traditional nba player. He has allways played his heart out. He will have a good season and play to win it all, he's not about the money.

I love Manu too but the guy has a family to feed. How can he feed them on the MLE. He needs to put up big numbers this year with no sign of injury to get that 8-10 mil he deserves. I just hope its with the spurs...it would eat me up to see him in another uni.

It is more like impossible to tell, LOL. I am hoping for the best.

We all are. I've thought of Gino as our most important player since his 2nd or 3rd year. Not necessarily the best, but our most important. Not discounting TD and Parker's importance, but we'll go as far as Manu will take us.

In 2005, he should have been the finals MVP...

if he plays out of his tree he could be close to ricky davis but then again that's a little unrealistic because ricky is the best sg in the game

You're not giving Ricky Davis nearly enough credit. Forget best SG, he's frontrunner for GOAT honors.

Before he left with injury (the 1st time) last year, he was playing as well as he had for years.

I think it's Ricky's agent or possibly his mother.
