Opinions on Kurt Thomas wanted

Would you guys mind coming over to our current thread on Kurt Thomas and offering your opinions on him?

We aren't sure whether this guy is a PF or a C and whether he has anything left in the tank. Would like the Spurs fan perspective.

solid body, good awareness, 6 very good smart hard fouls. will suprise you with his offense, wasn't long ago he was the Knicks and averaged 10/10 a night.

Not sure what Kurt's position is anymore. He's obviously not a pure Center because he's too short, but he can't guard quick/face up PFs (lots of those around nowadays) because he's lost a lot of his quickness. He's still strong as hell so if you put him againts a center or a post up player, he'd still do a respectable job. Like for instance, if you're playing againts Dallas and you have him guarding Dampier, it probably won't be a problem since he's good (and dirty) enough defensively to hold his ground and keep Dampier off the boards. But if you have him guard Dirk, you're toast.

He's still got some left in the tank but IMO he'd be better off playing 20 minutes or less. He's probably at a stage where he should just be a mentor to the young kids, give them an example of how to be a pro, and not play at all.

Offensively, he'll always have a midrange jumper but for some reason I didn't see him making that shot that much with the Spurs.

He looked like he was done at the start of last season. However, he improved to the point of becoming our second best big. His smarts really cover up his lack of quickness quite well.

He can be a key contributor if you bring him along slowly.
