The Rockets waived forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu on Friday.

Mensah-Bonsu played a total of 12 minutes in four games this season, averaging 1.3 points. He signed as a free agent on Sept. 3.

I really liked Pops last year and I really wanted to keep him around. He's a high energy guy who grabs a ton of boards and is pretty effective at picking up those garbage buckets around the basket.

Hopefully he catches on with another NBA team. If we had a roster spot open I'd be all for signing him. Maybe we could waive Haslip or Ian to make room for him?

I liked Pops too.

Ian has more potential and is a bigger player than Haislip so I'll chose Ian over him. But I'll drop Haislip for Pops anytime.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. When we signed Haislip I was like who is this guy. 8 games into the season I still am I like who is this guy.

I'm starting to think that there's more to Pops than meets the eye. He's seemingly played well for every team he's been on, yet has been unable to find a home. Maybe he struggles to learn playbooks and stuff like that.

I think that has alot to do with it, he doesn't seem to have a very high B-Ball IQ. He relies pretty heavily on his ability to outwork and out hustle everyone else but he gets caught out of position alot.
