Providing that the Spurs have lost their jingle-jangle-jingle, and the team doesn't get anywhere near the NBA finals in 2010, is there any truth to the rogue rumor that Pop will sit down with Tim and ask him if he wants to stay or go? With less than three years left on his contract, the end is near, so the question remains...will the Spurs look to move him if the timing is right?
Of course, this all hinges on the Spurs going nowhere in the playoffs, in what many say is the last hurrah for San Antonio.

haha. Thats the funniest thing I have read. Timmy isnt going anywhere. Its early in the season to call this year a bust. TD's best chance to win another title is right here in SA. He has a great relationship with Pop and knows the spurs will do everything possible to get him another ring. What other organization would do that for Tim?

Higher chance of the spurs just moving some guys for some cap space, signing a FA and then making a run with a cast of vets who want to win.
RJ is not fitting in right now as he is a slasher more than a shooter, and Ginobili is getting older.
Spurs ought to try and get their mitts on Delfino, who plays a similar style, and would benefit with his countryman. Splitter will be nice if he comes over, just need that guard who does a little of everything.
Just being a knick fan, I can say Larry Hughes next season might be running to SA for a min deal, and he would probably fit better than RJ.

I read a number of funny statements in this post. No, we wouldn't trade Duncan and I hope he finishes his career as a Spur; second, I don't think we will make an offer for Larry Hughes, he is not bringing anything that we need, let alone one year from now - he'll be even slower (is that even possible?), older and completely lost his jumpshot. Jefferson surely has a lot more to offer but I think he can fit and we won't be looking to move him. And, yes, Delfino could be a decent addition but he has some liabilities and it would happen only for a minimum deal and not under his current contract. He could take the role of Finley in a year or two - 10-15 mins. off the bench for offense.

Oh, yes, and Splitter is a big question mark to me - I'm not even impressed with how he plays in Europe, let alone if he came to the NBA. A big man I'd really love to see play alongside Timmy is Ioannis Bourousis of Olympiakos (and there were actually rumors we're interested).

Source? This is the first i've ever heard of it.

Never heard of that rumor either.

If the Spurs missed the playoffs or get beaten BADLY in the 1st round this year, there might be a chance that "rogue" rumor happens. Only if the Spurs decide to completely rebuild the team. That'll mean not resigning Manu. Trading Duncan and get young talent in return. Move Jefferson's expiring contract for youth and perhaps giving the key of the team to George Hill and move Parker.

The Spurs trade Duncan away only if it has given up on a championship. I've never heard of this rumor, but I won't count it out as something impossible.

Worst case scenario (and one I think is unrealistic):
If the Spurs is healthy in the playoffs and is a 5th seed but then get swept by Houston team with no Yao and Tmac because Manu and Duncan is just not their old self anymore because of age, that'll seriously mean it's time the Spurs rebuild.
