What do you guys think about trading Ginobili for somebody more reliable, but who is also of some relevance for fit? The lingering injuries have hurt us significantly, and Pop has even supposedly shown annoyance to an extent.
Without Manu being in all-star form, at least come 2nd half season/playoffs, we are a 1/2 notch off from what we are looking to be, and generally viewed as.
Manu still has good value, especially in a situation where less is needed from him.
Now, I know he's coming back from injury very soon - but how ahout Rip Hamilton? It's not like he's just a shooter, either. I also think with the Pistons drop off the last couple years, it's more realistic of a deal than years before that. I think he'd fit in quite well for obvious reasons, assuming you've seen enough of his play, to know that he isn't just a shooter.
For Detroit, Manu won't command the ball as much as Rip, decreases the suttle conflict(s) with Stuckey's touches and continued development (Stuckey is definitely Joe D's boy, and rightfully so), and Manu is still an above-average player whether he's hurting some or not. He'd differ to Stuckey/Prince/Gordon/Villanueva, Manu still being an adequate defender helps also.
The main thing here being, Detroit has enough of a different direction and feel to them now, compared to the Rasheed/Billups/Brown-Flip seasons.

If we're going to trade Ginobili it should be for an high quality big, not a downgrade...BTW it's not like Hamilton is Mr. Iron Man himself having only played in one game all season and missing 15 games last season..Hamilton is a decent player, but honestly when both fully healthy how much better is he than Ginobili?

Yeah I really don't think we trade Manu to get another SG. If we do, it'll most likely be for a big. I really don't see how trading Manu for Rip makes us that much better. Personally, I don't even think it makes us better. But let's say it does, how much better are we?
And when both are healthy, Manu is the better player. Right now, both are injured. I'd still take Manu over Rip.

I think because of his style Rip's more reliable health-wise, and more likely to stay healthy over a longer period of time. Also his injury history isn't as loaded as Manu's. I'm not saying I'm deadset on Manu needs to be traded, but if he's not where we want him over the next 2-3 months, I think we should look to deal him.
And yes, trading Manu for a significant defensive big is a good point, too - *Camby*

I gotta agree with wone and co_laper I just don't see the point in trading Manu for another SG and if we were going to deal him it should be a big. I wouldn't be against trading Manu but it would have to be for a center.
