Is it possible to sign Rafer Alston? I know he doesn't want to play for miami.

Well it looks like the Heat would like to sever ties with him as he has refused to speak with the team and has subsequently been suspended. With the unfortunate injury to Tony it would be wise for the Spurs to try to sign Alston as a veteran PG which is crucial come playoff time, even with the strong play of Hill. We have to sign a player anyways and it looks like Rafer will be released soon as they have Arroyo and Chalemrs at the point. This would be a great signing for the Spurs, RC get it done!

He's got some attitude problems, but now that Tony's basically done for the season Rafer would get a lot of playing time behind Hill. Rafer's a great defender, a good play maker and a decent shooter. He'd be a great backup for Hill.

He played well for Orlando last year when Jameer went down. I'd have no problem bringing him on board.

Trust me when I say you don't want Rafer Alston. Yes he played very well for Orlando last year but nowadays... He's flat out terrible.
Unless you want a guy that will dribble the ball off his foot and out of bounds with no one around him at least once a game, I suggest you look elsewhere for PG help...

Yeah? To be honest, I haven't seen him play all year.

Heat fan here. When he joined us, I was very happy because I thought we finally had a decent starting PG. But the Rafer who joined us this season isn't the same Rafer who used to play for us some years ago. He can't make an open shot, commits silly turnovers and is just not the creative PG he used to be. Plus, he has family issues so I doubt he'll play anywhere soon. His sister tried to commit suicide and he wants to be with her, which is something everybody can understand. The reason we suspended him however is because he didn't inform anybody about it but just left. So I don't think he'd be a good option at this time. He just hasn't been himself all season long. I guess these family issues have really bothered him which explain his lack of attention on the court at times.
I wish Rafer all the best and hope his sister will be better soon but right now, he's just not the guy you'd want to sign. If you're looking for a solid PG backup, try Mike James. He's a proven veteran who could take some backup minutes and he'd be eligible for the playoffs which is important for you guys.

Mike James? I think I'd rather get Damon Stoudamire, and that's saying something.

It was just an idea but I guess it was a bad one.
