Howa about getting Darko ?

Hello Spurs fans,
I'm wondering why the Spurs would't look at this option as I think Darko would be an excellent complementto Tim.
Darko would be the starting center, allowing Tim to be at his natural position which I think is where you want him to be.
Plus, he's fitting the team defense mentality (can be a monster at time there !) , he's a more than capable passer and given the good environnement the Spurs would offer, Darko might maximise his potential and be a double double guy (maybe around 14/10).
What do you think ?

I don't know if it's true or not but IMO Darko thinks he's more than just a defensive player. He wants to be one of those guys who gets post up opportunities and an important part of the offense. That's not what he is. Combine that with his childish behaviors, no way.
Defensively, i will say that his size, agility, and shotblocking can certainly help us. If he can focus on that, then he could be better than any of our current bigs.

Well, he definitely shouldn't be the focus on offense, but he has nonetheless some skills as he is close to be ambidextruous, has a nice little hook shot and can knock his jumper from 15 feet.
Not to mention his passing game which is pretty good from what I've seen.
I don't think he demands to be the first option on offense but rather being involve in the flow (not just be a body out there) and concerning his behavior, I think Pop wouldn't take the bull so I wouldn't worry about that too much...

There's a general thinking that a kid with attitude problems will have no problem with the Spurs because of Pop, Tim, and basically a roster full of no character issues.
That applies to Boston maybe, but not to SA.
The problem is that it does not seem like Pop is even interested in bringing in a guy known for some attitude problem even if it's just one guy. Check out the last guy we did and that's probably Dennis Rodman.
Character is the only reason I can see the Spurs being turned off by Darko. Plus, no one is gonna pay Darko big money IMO and I think Darko will want that cause he's all about himself right now and obviously he doesn't really care about where he's gonna play. Fiba or Nba. If he's looking for a huge role and huge cash, I bet he's off to Europe or stay in Minnesota.
He's not likely to be in any of our plans. A to Z.

Well I get your point co_laper, but I don't think that the guy is such an headcase.
He's just immature and got frustrated with the way his career has gone so far, which is understandable.
Not to say that he didn't have a big responsability in the way it turned out, but he had plenty of bad breaks too.
I don't think he is searching for the big money, rather than a important (and real) role in a team.
And I truly think he can be a very nice starter in this league.
I mean his defense is really, really good and next to Timmy... Oh my !
Not to mention that with a little time, a little patience and some trust he might surprise a lot of people with his lefty arsenal on offense.
I think the guy just want to find a place he can call home and be happy with himself.
Too bad you guys don't want to give him a try, as I'm sure he would blossom in your excellent program.
Wish you the best for the playoffs, I hope my fellow countryman Tony will be healthy and that your team finds its Mojo in time for the big battles.

I don't question Darko's skillset. He's got what it takes to make it as an NBA player. But I do question his desire and attitude.
That being said, I think with a coach like Pop he could be serviceable.

Well if the Spurs are willing to go add someone with attitude problems even it's just one guy, we don't have to wait for this summer to add Darko. We should go get Stephon Marbury. Hey, for years we wanted Tony to be like Marbury in terms of playing style. Now the guy is out there and you don't want him even thou he's 32 years old? Manu is 32 years old. We're down 2 PG. Heck, we have no PG. Even with everyone healthy and Jefferson not providing the usual punch, we lack instant offense off the bench unless you want Manu back on the bench. Without attitude problems, that's all Stephon Marbury right there. Heck, it's even Allen Iverson when he was a FA this season or last season.
I mean, our last headcase other than Dennis Rodman was probably Stephen Jackson. But you know what? Sjax was somewhat a headcase AFTER he left San Antonio. It was until he got to Atlanta and Indiana that his true personality comes out. The Spurs haven't bring in someone who is known league-wide as a headcase for more than a decade. I don't see us doing it again.

Are you kidding me? Darko has been the laughingstock of the NBA and now the T-Wolves have continued that by giving him playing time. I just shiver at the thought of him. He might have attitude problems and so on but I'd like to point out one thing - he sucks as a basketball player. He doesn't belong in the NBA. Are you sure you want our franchise to be made fun of next season? No to Darko and for the sake of the league, I hope someone puts some sense in the heads of the T-Wolves bosses and they decide not to offer him a contract as well.

I NEVER wanted TP to be like Marbury. There's a huge difference between Marbury and Darko in terms of their mental state. Marbury detracts from a team and has a huge ego. Darko appears uninterested. That can be fixed. Marbury's mental issues are permanent.

By we, I mean the Spurs. When Tony was young and Marbury was killing us offensively with the Suns, Pop said it quite a few times about wanting Tony to be like Marbury when it comes to how to score.
This was a quote from Pop in 2004
"Let me tell you about Tony Parker. We want him to be a combination of John Stockton and Stephon Marbury, all rolled into one. That's what I want. I don't want much."
And if guys think having ONE guy with character issues will have no such issues with Pop and TD, why wouldn't it work with a guy like Iverson or Marbury? Marbury didn't have no issues in Boston. There's only one logical reason and that's because the Spurs put character in high regards.
No character = No contract.
That's just how I see it.

He had no character issues in Boston. He also had no game. You'd roll the dice on a 27 or 28 year old headcase like Marbury, but not the 32 year old version. It's not worth it. He's not the difference maker for us, and he wasn't one for the Celtics either.

Its time for everyone to give up on Darko. Many teams have given him a chance to excel and he done's nothing. He strings together a few good games then goes back to being a lame duck, I'll pass.

Well, if he stays next year in Minnesota, and that is a big if, I think he will surprise a lot of people including yourself !
Time will tell
I'll get back to you on the subject in a year or so.

Damn, I've actually never seen this footage before, amazing ! What a douch ! lmao
I guess it's shows you what the NBA is avoiding with its strick policy with the interviews...
imagine KG, Artest, KMart, or Rasheed it would get very ugly, even though I don't think they would get that ugly... Well maybe they would

Anyway, it's not like last night game is gonna change your mind so forget it

I'm glad Tony is back and distributing (I've been so eager to see him play like that, mix it up, be a true pg, because with his skills as a scorer it would just make him and the team that much more dangerous !)
