Chad Fords 2008 Mock Draft

Post#1 » by Hiphophead101 » Wed Mar 5, 2008 7:02 pm

So the new one is finally out!

I used it 100 times and wrote down all the numbers we were put at for picks and...

Our average position was 3.86.

He had us with a drafting priority as follows:

Beasley
Rose
Jordan
Lopez
Bayless

However since our pick lands in between Jordan and Lopez, I re-ordered our likely chances of a pick. Since it was 3.8 I rounded it to 4 and started with lopez. Next Jordan since he is .8, then Bayless at 1.2

Lopez
Jordan
Bayless
Rose
Beasley

We also had 11 #1's, (on average to the 11.9%)

14 #2's

(25% chance 1 or 2)

14 #3's

(39% chance at 1-3)

Another interesting thing Chad factored in is if Memphis gets the #2 pick, they draft Gordon since they are so stacked at point. So if were the 3rd pick, pray for Memphis at 2nd, and the 1st team you hope picks Beasley.

If the Sonics do select number 1 and take Beasley they pretty much have to trade Wheezy. Beasley would play PF and would become the first option. Wheezy could attact a good offer. Memphis and Miami could use PF's. He might be attractive to LAC since Brand is likely leaving. Chicago, Indiana and Phoenix would all be interested in Wilcox. This could be a real opportunity for Presti to work his magic and get back two firsts.

That Phoenix #1 is via the hawks - we dont have rights to that pick.

We have Phoenix's 2008 1st round pick. It came in the Kurt Thomas deal. It was said a lottery because they have fallen and nearly out of the current playoff lineup.

Last year I did it once and landed on #2, so I stopped right there.

This year I did it once and landed on #1, so I'm stopping right there.

Wouldn't it be something if Phoenix's pick from Atlanta was like #11 and They won the lottery with there own pick (#14) and gave it to us. Haha. As a side note I love the PHX team, and Shaq is one of my favorite players, I hate having to root against them now but as a Sonics fan I gotta do what I gotta do.

OK, now don't get too worked up guys...

Phoenix is still in 6th place in the West and it will take quite a bit for them to slip down to 9th. It is possible, though.

But even if they slid to a lottery pick, I don't think it's going to do us any good to start planning for how we want to use our two top-three picks...

^^^^^^^^^

and yet you posted this:

"This leaves Phoenix 2.5 games from missing the playoffs, with one of the hardest remaining schedules in the league.

Houston has proven they can win just fine without Yao, if Denver keeps up this type of play, perhaps getting a lottery pick from the Suns isn't so absurd after all.

I think Phoenix is now like 3-7 in their last 10 or something...

Man just imagine that, a top 4 pick and a top 14 pick..."

the suns could easily slip out of the playoff all together if they dont figure things out quick. and if they do well, although two top 3 picks would be very unlikely, its still possible.

Yes, I used the phrase, "Wouldn't be so absurd after all." Meaning it is possible for Phoenix to get a lottery pick. Which is what I re-emphasized in that post above yours. It isn't likely, but it's possible.

I NEVER said anything about the Suns pick possibly jumping to the top three, because I mean, let's get real, that is not going to happen. Some people have been discussing, "What if we have both the number one and number two, who do we take first Rose or Beasley!?"

i know, it just looked like you flipped a little on the chance of phoenix droping out of the playoffs. and yes the rose and beasley talk is far-fetched and unlikely to happen, but still fun to talk about a litlle. whats the harm in that?
