Oh yes, I remember that. But I think Johnson was pretty justified in being upset. I don't think that counts as the team tuning him out for being overbearing. As I understand it, he did not want any of the players to celebrate after a loss. They celebrated Howard's birthday party anyway. Add to that, Howard just made the statements about smoking marijuana ... Johnson should be upset, as should any coach in those circumstances.

But at least he got his team to the playoffs.

Actually though it doesn't matter who the coach is now. Or even the coach after PJ because they won't be here when the Sonics actually are very good and are looking to go deep in the playoffs.

Since when has a coached taken a team that won 20 games for a seaon, and was still coaching them when they won a title?

The next coach will coach the Sonics into the playoffs and people will have higher expectations and they will want a bigger name/better coach to take the next step.

For example Dell Harris and then Phil Jackson for the Lakers.

Stan VanGundy and then Pat Riley for the Heat.

I'm trying to remember the Pistons coach before Larry Brown took over and won a title?

Heck the Spurs suffered with Boob Hill and then when they landed Tim Duncan Pop came out of the GM role to coach.

Doug Collins and then Phill Jackson in Chicago.

So it doesn't matter who the next coach is they won't be here when the Sonics make the finals in 5 or 6 years from now.

Rick Carlisle, I believe, unless there was someone between Carlisle and Brown. As I recall, Carlisle had an excellent season and I did not think he deserved to be fired.
