I can't blame Thomas for being ready to move on, or any other player on the team for that matter. It would suck being stuck in a period of uncertainty, not knowing whether you'll be back with the team next year, what the direction of the franchise is, and whether the team itself is staying put.

what about Redick, Garrity and Arroyo for Wilcox instead of Thomas?

Redick might be able to do something, but they won't play him in Orlando with the weak defense we have

We read your post...you really didn't need to put in the first part...

I vaguely remember a teammate saying he thought Kurt Thomas would go into coaching when he's done playing. I think that's why the Sonics will keep him. He's a good mentor to the younger players.

And what exactly does that for the Sonics?
Thomas contract is expiring, just like Garrity's and Arroyo's, and he's way better then both of them together.

Maybe. But Thomas wants to play a couple more years and that sure as hell wouldn't be with a rebuilding team like the Sonics, with him being an UFA this summer and able to go to a contender.

I believe he has already done some coaching with Dallas.

There was a bit of a story behind that which left Dallas pretty angry. He was coaching when he was injured and signed elsewhere when he was healthy. I can't remember exactly what it was someone should be able to remember it.

By the sounds of things he is gone.

Thomas had(i think ankle) injury problems and it looked like he had to give up playing after just a couple of years in the league.

Because of that he got into coaching, while rehabbing from those injuries.

The Mavs were really mad at him, cause he just left them, when he finally was healthy again, and signed with the Knicks.

Well it does nothing for us really but gives us an excuse to play Swift and Petro much more. Garrity would be cut and I've always thought Arroyo is quite good. I'm sure Thomas would rather go there than have his minutes cut in half.

I'd like to think we could get something else of them though that may help in the future but that may not happen. :-?

Magic fans are missing the point. The Sonics wouldn't trade Kurt Thomas just to get another expiring contract back. They need something else, and certainly more than what Redick offers.

I could see if there aren't any good offers then Seattle waiving Thomas and allowing him to choose which team he goes to. At least Seattle then saves whatever amount Thomas signs for.

It could mean Orlando gets him for nothing in return other than the veterans minimum. Or it could mean Thomas chooses another team. Teams can't talk to him directly so they can't make a pitch. That's why teams have to deal directly with the Sonics and if they want Thomas have to make an offer that's acceptable to Seattle.

Arroyo is still not in the game with just over a minute to go in a blow out over Detroit.

Injury? Coincednce? Or on the move?

I'm kinda getting tired of Magic fans thinking nothing but expirings will get them thomas (when he is already expiring!), especially when they think throwing in JJ redick along with expirings can get wilcox/collison, but then they use the excuse Bogans expires the same year as wally, well.. doesn't wilcox expire the same year as wally? It's getting irritating
