Is there a way I can avoid the I-5 standstill that occurs before games? Like can I take the 405 and somehow swing around or is it better just to take the expected hour to get from everett to key arena?

Once you cross the Snohomish/King line going southbound your gonna be scrwed either way, game day or not. You might as well stick it out and stay on the 5.

Everett is going to be a problem no matter what.

But once you get into Seattle, you might be able to save some time and avoid traffic by cutting across 85th to Hwy 99.

I've done the drive from BC for several Sonics games and I've always found it best to just stick to I-5. Just leave plenty of time and it's not that big of a deal given the length of the total trip.

When I lived in Bellingham I did that all the time. Personally I think it cuts down quite a bit of time if it is bumper to bumper.

I very rarely drive North of downtown but my wife does a few times a week and swears by this shortcut.

Wouldn't 80th be quicker? 85th is backed up all to hell at rush hour. Especially turning left . . .
