Your most disappointing Sonics moment

...would have to be losing game 5 in 94 to Denver, w/ Mutombo on the ground clutching the ball. There were other moments, like losing to the Bulls, day Sonics sold to Bennett, trading Shawn Kemp, etc., but the 94' moment is still prominent to me. I think of all the teams since the Sonics' championship in 79', the 93-94 squad had the most talent and best chance at realistic going all the way. No Jordan in the league, best record. Still my fav Sonics team (along with the 86-87 Sonics' ever. I think I actually become teary-eyed, that's how disappointed I was with them losing that game to Denver...
What is your most disappointing Sonics moment?

When I realized that David Stern was not going to do anything to try and keep the Sonics in Seattle. Probably right around the time he announced that if the team left, we'd never get another one.
Beyond being disappointing as a Sonics fan, it was disappointing as an NBA fan.

When I was a kid, I was crushed when they traded Dennis Johnson for Paul Westphal. I was also crushed when Gus Williams sat out the season in a contract dispute. The team didn't want to pay him the $1 million he was asking for.
I hated it when Tom Chambers signed with Phoenix. I also hated the day they lost to Phoenix in the WCF when the Suns shot 7,000 free throws.
When Shultz sold to Bennett, I was floored.
But my worst moment was watching Dikembe clutch that damn ball. No question about it.

While Dikembe clutching the ball is definitely up near the top, at least we didn't have any worries about the team leaving. The Suns game where they shot a ton of free throws is up there as well. Hoping that Eddie Jones would fall to the Supes and then having the Lakers take him right before the Supes when I thought there was no way the Lakers would draft him was disappointing. Shawn Kemp saying he would never wear a Supes jersey again on national TV after the Bulls loss was a bit of a shock. Having Magette fall to us in the draft and then actually drafting him, at which point I actually jumped for joy, and then turning around and trading him for Horace Grant upset me. Finding out that the team was sold to someone who obviously was going to try and move them has got to be the worst.

Dikembe Mutombo will forever be burned into my mind, as he laid on the floor of the Seattle Center Colesium and clutched that ball in his hands. At the time, I remember I wanted to kick him in the face....I was about 12 years old then mind you.
I remember I was bawling right after the game and my dad was so upset, he grabbed our basketball and kicked it high into the air, and it got stuck in a tree. That's something we joke about now, 14 years later, but it was serious business, us going down in the first round like that.
That besides what's happening with the current ownership is without a doubt my most disappointing Sonic moment.

I think the reason that hurt so much is because we knew we were the best, deepest team in the NBA and with no Michael Jordan had our best chance at winning a title that year. I was devastated too after that game. It was almost surreal. I remember still when Payton missed a fadeway at the end of regulation and Kendall Gill miraculously came and tipped it in at the buzzer- i thought ok, finally, this nightmare is going to end in OT. But noooo. Role players like Bryant Stith, Robert Pack, and Reggie Williams absoluetely destroyed Seattle.
People can say what they want about the Warriors and them upsetting Dallas. To this day, I don't think i have seen a bigger upset than Denver over Seattle. People forget that we BLEW THEM OUT the 1st two games. We were even up in game 3 until the very end. Damn, just thinking about it kind of makes me ticked lol...

I remember seeing that Kendall Gill tip in and going through the roof. I also remember thinking at the time that Gill was pretty excited about it but none of the other guys on the floor showed much emotion about him hitting that game tying shot. I was sure after that though that Seattle was going to come out in OT and blow them away. Seattle was so good that year. Ah, the good old days.

Nothing comes close to the disappointment I felt the day Schultz sold us out and we were introduced to the term "12 month window".

The day I heard that a group from OKC bought the team. Not that I think that they are going to leave now, because they aren't.

When David Stern knowingly manipulated the Ewing lottery and...
Gotta be the Mutombo moment. That was our year to win it all. If the Sonics move then obviously my vote will change.

That was a bad moment too...damn
Think it was 93' though. Sonics had a really deep team that year too. Probably could have given Chicago a better run for their money. Oh well...
I'm still thinking about Mutombo lying on the ground though....that is just burned in my head...

How do the 95 and 98 eliminations rank?

The signing of McIlvaine killed me, and the franchise, on the same day.
