Game Thread: Sacramento Kings @ Seattle Supersonics

Post#1 » by Det the Threat » Sun Jan 27, 2008 10:20 am

Today is a day to celebrate. Sonics mascot Squatsch celebrates his birthday and a couple of other nba teams mascots will be at the Key, to celebrate with him. The Sonics will try to do their part for this party, when they face the Sacramento Kings and try to end their 13 game losing streak.

Center Robert Swift has started practicing with the team again, but is still not available for the Sonics.

When and Where?

Sunday, January 27th, 6:00 p. m. PT, Key Arena, Seattle, Washington

This game will be broadcasted by FSN NW in HD

Questions:
Will we be able to keep up with their offensive fire power?
Will our rookies be effective in this one?
Can Wally bounce back from his crappy outing against the Hawks?
Will PJ give more minutes to Petro, after his solid game against the Hawks?

Which makes them different from anyone who plays on the Sonics. Seriously, it's amazing how quickly this team finds itself out of ball games. They're halfway through the first quarter and they're already in a big hole.

Big men slip to the basket uncovered defensively, the team has nothing going for it offensively...there's no point in even watching this crap. **** the NBA for thinking fans should have to pack this arena to show this is a good market.

Too back up Sweezo here. I can't remember a game where the Sonics were not down by ten point in the first quarter.

Maybe the Houston game up here? But other than that I seriously can't recall.

I guess that just means are starters suck! But we have a good bench.

Nice job by Wilkins to hit the three to tie...and then put his hands in the air and stand still as Martin hits the game-winning shot. Goddammit.

We just can't catch a break...

BTW: If there aren't any changes made by Presti(meaning trades), i doubt that we'll end the season with anything else then the worst record. I mean, the Heat have Wade and will win a game or two and the Wolves just won their 8th game and still have Randy Foye coming back.

Tough loss for the Sonics, I really thought they were going to pull this one out. Kings definately did not deserve to win it...

I really like Petro, wish the Kings had him. Good luck with the rest of the season (until we meet again, of course).

So Derrick Rose looks good.

I like Jerryd Bayless too.

So what kind of sign is it when Kevin Martin hits the buzzer beater and I laugh?

I guess I can only explain it by "it's easier to laugh than cry".

I think it will happen either way.

I think Thomas is the most likely to be moved. Chances are he will be moved for a scrub and a pick. So no real immediate help. As you know he anchors the paint for us. So when he's gone I don't see the Sonics improving.

However it's nice to see Petro having some decent games strung together.

Now Swift is once again practicing, but I'm not holding my breath.

Couldn't agree more. As much as I know we all want to see our Sonics be successful, we have to face the realities of the current circumstance. We need to lose as many games as possible to mathematically better our odds to get either Derrick Rose or Michael Beasley, simple as that. Granted, we may still end up at #5, but can we really ask for any better way of losing? Come back from a deficit, and lose on a last second shot, while further bettering our chances at one of the 2 draft studs?

PJ is doing a great job of f'ing up this team, which is exactly what we need right now. I really hope we set a record for Sonics futility forsake of being competitive in a couple of years. Quite frankly, I see no reason why we can't...

Your probably right on what we will get for Thomas, but we really can't ask for a lot either. Once he is gone is frees up valuable minutes for Swift, Sene and Johan Petro who has been really good lately.

I'd be surprsied to see Swift play again this year :(

Goodness. I thought the team would have won by accident by now.
