Question on Durant/Green

It's old news, but I've noticed a few similarities between between my team, the Raptors, and your SuperSonics, and just wanted your take on the matter.

Bargnani had always played the 3/4 throughout his career in Italy, but is best defined as a 4. Right or wrong, our GM envisioned him capable of manning the 5 as he matured, hopefully creating a nice mismatch for opposing teams. Basically, along with Bosh, we have two natural 4's in our starting lineup. Although not your traditional 5, we label Bargnani as such due to his superior size compared to Bosh.

Again, this is very similar to your excellent building blocks in Kevin Durant and Jeff Green. Both are natural 3's, and I assume that as they both mature your going to be able to throw them both out there together for major minutes and create matchup problems.

Now, I haven't watched many Sonic games this year, but I did catch a few of your preseason games and marvelled at your two young guys. I really liked the way they played together, and thought that Green was a nice complementary piece to Durant.

Why is Green receiving so few minutes? Also, as Green matures, how do you see him fitting with Durant, as far as positions go? Or, like us, are you hoping to throw them both out there, not worrying about positions, and just let the opposition worry about, and create matchup problems?

Excellent question. None of us know, really. All I can say is that the team is in an, ahem, "Evaluation Process".

From what we've seen of Green and Durant, they're both better suited to play the three, in my opinion, with Durant being a 3/2 and Green a 3/4. Ideally, since we've wed our future to their development, I would like to see a transition team with Durant at the three and Green at the four, an athletic big at the five and bodies on the bench we can bang in the halfcourt with.

Well you've certainly got enough young bigs over there. Between Petro, Sene, and Swift, you've got a few options going foward, it's just up to them to realize their potential. Collison's not a bad player, and Thomas is a nice vet to have around as a mentor.

Since I like your young team, well Durant and Green anyways, hopefully you get another nice, young talent to add. How fitting it'd be if you got Beasley, but assuming you land the #3, who do you take?

If the supes had a really good shooting guard then I could see them playing a lot of small ball with durant at the 3 and green at the 4, but the supes are overloaded with bigs so playing a small isn't realistic.

Green has the unfortunate problem of being inconsistent (which he should be), which seems to be why he finds the bench. Then again, Durant's also horribly inconsistent...and he's generally allowed to play through those stretches. I wish I could say it makes sense, but...

two things:

durant- second pick, more talent, face of the franchise.

green- fifth pick, less talent, nice piece for the future.

but the overall talent level between those two, well its not all that close.

I'd love Beasley. I'm one of his biggest supporters on this board and I'm sure people are tired of hearing me wax poetical about him so, I'll spare you. My motto for the draft is: Rose, Beasley, or bust. If we're out of the top two, I'd trade down and grab a PG in the late lottery (Lawson).

Obviously, I'm for D Rose. But if not him, then J Bayless would also work IMO.
