I'll miss Kurt Thomas
Farewell Kurt, I hardly knew thee.
Too bad we didn't meet 5 years ago.
The door is open for you to stay, but we understand and wish you the best.
Regards

I can assure you with 100% confidence the Sonics have no intention of buying out Kurt Thomas' contract.

nwsports is right. We have 2 more games with him. Supposedly. I'm guessing 1 though. If anyone has been to an All Star event, or knows anything about the behind the scenes stuff, it's similar to "winter meetings" in the baseball world. A bunch of executives make an excuse to get together, get drunk on $20 martinis, and bullsht with eachother about their clubs and who they're trying to dump, then turn around and try to scam their colleagues for pennies on the dollar for the trash their taking to the can anyways. It's a firesale in every sense of the concept, a flash to centuries ago where slaves were bought and sold for the most common of goods. Kurt Thomas will be unloaded for sugar, water and a bag of potatoes, or in the NBA world, a late first round/early 2nd round pick and cash, or rights to a Euro-scrub who doesn't want to come over anyways.
The Sonics will play this week, the All Star break will take place, and Kurt will be on his way, pardoned by Master Presti and plying his trade for a new owner/driver. He's a loaded gun for hire and the Sonics will turn him loose for next to nothing, since Steady Sam robbed Kerr once already this summer and will bask in the first stolen wallet of his pick-pocketing career. Anything gained will be icing on the cake.

Really?
PJ already stated that he wants to give Swift some more run after the all-star break. Collison and Wilcox are doing their thing and with Petro showing some signs of life i can't see anyone else then Thomas being the guy that gets his minutes cut because of the Robert Swift eveluation.
I'm sure Thomas would bite the bullet and not say anything in public, but i don't think that he just wants to sit on the bench and cheer those young guys on, when he's still got quite something left in the tank and with a couple of championship contenders(especially the Mavs, if they do that Kidd trade) in need of a guy like him.
After all, i still think we'll either trade Thomas till next week or we'll buy him out, save a couple of dollars during the process and help us dealing with players agents in the future, after showing some "class" in doing something like this and letting Thomas go ring hunting.

sidebar - Devean George is a tool.
I can't say I really blame him. He signed this one-year deal hoping to have Bird rights at the end, but he forfeits them if he is traded in midseason. Why shouldn't he veto a trade that would stick him in a dead-end job for the rest of the season, then cost him a bargaining chip for next year? (And yes, it would be a dead-end job: games in Jersey are lame even when the Nets are good; when they're bad, the place is truly depressing.)
On the other hand, I can see how Dallas fans would be upset about this. And I can see how this would cause George to burn some bridges in Dallas, meaning the team wouldn't want to pay him under his Bird rights. But there could still be a possibility of a sign-and-trade in the offseason, which Dallas probably wouldn't turn down.

Do you have any insight other "normal" fans don't have or are you just of that believe and confident because of that?
No, I'm way better looking, not half as geeky nor as anal about rules.
Yep, I have some insight beyond what's normally available. There is no intention to buy our K Thomas' contract if he's not traded.
Troy, think what you want. Doesn't matter to me.

All I said was I need a little something to stand on. It's not like I'm calling you out. It just seems like it's your opinion to someone that doesn't know you.
