Seattle should host next years All Star

It's reviving New Orleans, it could do the same for Seattle.

i believe the league has stated in the past that seattle is not a viable location for an all star game because.....................you guessed it, key arena is not up to standards.

Seattle doesnt need to be revived, it seems like there arent any fans at the game tonight.

well it really is true... I don't see the Key as a viable option for a showcase event like an All Star game.

Having been to multiple games at Bobcats arena this year, its obvious that Key Arena has major shortcomings.

Does this mean they need a brand new arena? or that they should move the team? absolutely not. I can, however, agree that Key Arena is not a prime venue for a big event such as an all star game.

the game tonight was not a sell out. 16,271. the arena holds 18,000. remember, that number includes tickets sold AND tickets comped. no direspect to new orleans, they certainly have their problems but still, if you can't sell out the all star game.............

I'm not sure....but didn't they also remove quite a few seats for that stage bull, plus all the media spots behind the basket that took up about 1/6 of the lower bowl? I'm sure it was sold out.....or at least pretty close to it(not 2,000 empty seats).

I figured that the Key wouldn't work for all star weekend. Guess I'm just bummed about the recent article

That's correct. They announced it as a sellout on tv as well. 17,200 is a sellout, 18,000 would be considered a standing room only sellout.

The faux French Quarter streetscape, built in a lower corner of the New Orleans Arena and featured during pregame introductions, forced the NBA to sacrifice nearly a full section of excellent seating close to the court.

The NBA has made the rebuilding of New Orleans from Hurricane Katrina the primary theme of All-Star Weekend. So it only made sense that the league would give up a few hundred seats so the city could showcase cultural richness that has fascinated tourists for generations.

Once again I'm sorry about the Seattle Sonics' situation but New Orleans isn't the answer. The people of New Orleans knows what it has to do to keep it's team and the people of Seattle knows what it must do to keep theirs. Good luck.

It does. Badly. Have you been to other arenas? Staples center is amazing, I went down there for the Pac-10 tourny and I couldnt believe how terrible the key is...
