Quietly your GM is making great moves

Post#1 » by VIPER8382 » Thu Feb 21, 2008 1:18 am

I don't even know who your GM is, but he managed to trade a TPE and a 2nd round draft pick for first round draft picks in 2008, 2009, and 2010 along with the expiring contracts of Barry and Elson!!!

That is just brilliant use of the loss of a free agent (referring to losing Lewis that caused the exception). Not to mention the impact having KT for this long had on some of your young players.

Another move I could see is trading Wally back to Ohio to the Cavs ( if all else fails for them on the trade front) for Eric Snow, Donyell Marshall and their 2008 first rounder. If you guys pulled that off you would have 7 first rounders in the next 3 years!

I agree, I was stunned Seattle got a 1st round pick out of an expiring Kurt Thomas. Even moreso since the Suns actually gave up a 1st round pick to dump him. Then again, the Suns keep selling Portland their 1st round picks anyway. They're going to be very, very sorry they traded Rudy Fernandez though, the guy is going to be a stud.

Terrific move for Seattle, great job Presti!

Is this true? I've been trying to find out for over 6 months now. If they are unprotected that 2010 pick could easily be a lottery pick, the Suns should be horrible by then.

And there is more ... now Phoenix wants Brent Barry. Could Presti pull the Atlanta first out of Phoenix? They have nothing else to give.

They're hoping we buy them out, but I would laugh so hard if we got the ATL pick for Brent Barry

I dont think we can deal Barry to PHX and get their 1st from Atlanta. Maybe Gelabale and 2nd for a 1st or something.

You know, we were ripped by Chad Ford for this deal. He said we should've done the same move with Orlando to get a better pick. Is it a sure thing that San Antonio will have a lower pick in 2009?

San Antonio is getting old so there pick could end up being pretty good next year.

Tim will be 32, Manu 31, Parker 26/27, they'll have Tiago Splitter next season. They'll probably rent some big time veterans for a year or so to make that yearly run at the title.

The Spurs will be fine in 2009.

Presti has been doing a really good job. He's moving this team in the right direction he's clearing cap and getting this team draft picks.

There are trade restrictions for recently traded players. Meaning we can't trade Barry. We can keep him or buy him out.

Especially since it's past the deadline. I believe you can trade someone within 48 hours of acquiring them, they just cannot be traded WITH anyone else. example: We could have turned around and traded Barry to the Warriors for there Trade exception, or something along those lines. but now that it's past the deadline, that is not a possibility.
