I am not sure if this has been discussed. If it has, please redirect me to it and lock this one.

Does this sound about right?

But yeah, what picks do you guys have now for next season till the 2010 season?

i think they have 6 first rounders in the next 3 years, and something like 13 over all in the same time span.

We have 5 2nd rounders this year I think.

Going to try and piece this all together. I am having trouble figuring out who has what in Picks.

So far I will update the original post breaking it down. Keep feeding me the info. :)

I know the Sonics gave up a conditional Second Rounder to Phoenix. Although it didn't state what year.

Also, did the Sonics only get a future conditional Second Round Pick from Orlando in the Lewis trade? I thought you guys got more than that in terms of Picks.

This is just our first round picks over the next few years. We have a lot of 2nd round picks too.

from: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/basketbal ... onx21.html

The Sonics have six first-round picks (and seven second-round picks) in the next three NBA drafts. A look at how the first-rounders were acquired:

2008 Sonics' own pick; could be top-5 selection
2008 From Suns in Kurt Thomas deal, July 2007
2009 Sonics' own pick
2009 From Spurs on Wednesday
2010 Sonics' own pick
2010 From Suns in Thomas deal, July 2007

The only one your missing is New Jersey's 2009 2nd rounder from the Mikki Moore trade. That equals the full 13 over 3 years.

I think I got them all now. That is a ton of picks! That's a full roster of picks in just 3 seasons?

They will have nice pieces and excellent trade bait.

I don't mean to upset the nice Phoenix poster who consolidated our draft picks by year, but I thought this was interesting (we got the following grade for a trade we weren't even in):

For Seattle: And now, for the big winner ... everyone remember that Kurt Thomas trade back in the fall? Phoenix sent Seattle two first-rounders in that deal.

What you might not remember is that the 2010 pick is completely unprotected. Didn't seem like a big deal with Phoenix's roster at the time, but now look at them. In the 2009-10 season, Shaq will be 37, Steve Nash will be 35, Grant Hill will be 37, and Raja Bell will be 33. With this trade, the value of that pick just went through the roof.
Grade: A

Our grade for:
Feb. 6: Phoenix acquires Shaquille O'Neal from Miami in exchange for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks

That's true that all those players will be older that season. But I think there is something everyone is overlooking. Actually a couple of things. Let's not forget we still have Diaw, Amare, and Barbosa under contract that year. Those three are young.

Also, Hill is NOT undercontract in 09-10.... he actually has a palyer option inext season(which he may or may not exercise depending if we win ring).

And of course the beauty of Shaq's contract.... he becomes an expiring contract in 09-10.... hmmmmm how nice will it look for a team unloading salary to the tune of $20 million? If Theo Ratliff was the key component to landing Boston KG(yes Al Jefferson was key... but financially it couldn't happen without Theos' expiring)..... just saying.... $20 million expiring is very attractive to some teams.

Nash will hopefully retire a Sun. He 'might' sign another contract for two years for lower money. The Suns will have some cap flexability. Not saying we will be title contenders, but we won't be at the bottom of the West.

Also take in mind 09-10 will be a huge season for the Super Stars. Lebron can opt out. Same for wade. Kobe can Opt out the summer before. Just saying if those teams haven't made strides to help them get close (Lebron is already frustrated), it could be interesting to see who goes where. Playing next to Amare sure sounds nice....

True, but that team without Nash and some answers could be in trouble.

I still agree with ESPN's assessment that at face value this is a good thing for our pick.

Not saying we should start scouting 16 year olds we want to take with their pick :).

True. True.

You guys, unlike the Suns, have the option of finding young talent. Suns I think maybe have 3 picks the next 3 seasons? Oh boy.... we will probably sell them for cash or package them all to a TE.
