Don't have any favourite Sonics

Post#1 » by pr0wler » Fri Feb 22, 2008 7:10 pm

One thing that has bugged me this year so far about the Sonics is that I don't have any players I really like/root for. Don't get me wrong, I love to see Durant score but he is not one of my favourite players yet. Same goes for Jeff Green. I have nothing against those guys and wish them the best.

I am probably the biggest Danny Fortson fan in the entire world, but now that he's out of the NBA I am at a loss. Robert Swift is one of my favourites, but he seems to have trouble running down the court let alone staying off the IR. I do like watching Saer Sene play as well, but we haven't seen in ages since being dropped to the D-League.

Who am I supposed to root for?

Nick Collison?
He's a hard nosed, rebounding big, who's pretty much underrated by most other teams fans, because all the things he does aren't going to get him on those sportscenter highlight reels.

All things considered, Nick is a more civilized Danny Fortson.

Like that?

Do you really think Nick Collison is a quality player? He just seems so lost most of the time. Don't get me wrong he crashes the boards but I feel like he crashes the boards because he's too confused to do anything else.

I also think Sonic fans greatly overrate his very average defense.

Collison is one of those players that I think is hard to really appreciate unless you see him live. He does a lot of stuff away from the ball and is constantly hustling.

But my favorite is Jeff Green. I sat courtside during warm-ups a few weeks ago and he was the coolest guy, totally nice to my kids, just having a good time.

Kevin Durant, on the other hand, wouldn't even say hello to the kids.

Prowler, I am a huge Fortson fan myself (still got that jersey!), and let me tell you, Collison is no replacement. I agree with BBen--Collison is currently the most overrated sonic. Fortson was one of the smartest players in the league, and the most misunderstood.

Anyway, who's my favorite current Sonic? That's a tough one. I wanted to love Delonte, but that never panned out. It might be Earl at this point, because I see a lot of my own positives and negatives in his game. I relate most to Earl, I guess. Green and Jelly are other naturals for me, but they're just too quiet on the floor right now.

^^^^That's really great about Green, by the way, and depressing about KD.
from ny, never been a fan of the knicks...

Nick Collison is definitely one of my favorite current Sonics. The guy is a workhorse.

I'd say Collison would be my favourite player there right now. I love the way he plays I just wish some of his hard work and hustle rubbed off on our starting PF a little more. He's never going to be a starting player or the answer but just a solid backup which every team needs.

I love Swift but chances are we may never see him again :(

I used to be a big Ridnour fan but his lack of toughness, mentally mainly turns me off him in a big way.

I'm slowly falling in love with Petro now :P

I was one of Reggie Evan's biggest fans. I loved the bang, crash frontline of Evans and Fortson  That seems like 20 years ago :(

I love watching Petro. He is so young and unrefined. Lots of fun to watch.

He's probably just afraid your kids will beat him up and take his rookie money. That guy has like 1lb of muscle on his whole body.

I gotta give it up to Petro. Dudes a beast. My favorites are Petro, Green, and Durant right now.

And Watson isnt sucking as much so hes kind of off my "hate list."

... I still hate Damien Wilkens.

Our people have been suffering for too long. One of the Chosen People will soon lead us out of the desert to the Promised Land.

I am speaking, of course, about Yotam Halperin.

C'mon hippie. We all know that the only chosen on this great planet is our very own, Peter Fehse.

Leave it to the Germans to march in and keep my people down. (Can I say that? No one will get too touchy about it?)

Anyway, when Fehse joins the team, Petro and Gelabale will both immediately surrender. When their teammates rescue them, they'll claim to have resisted all along.

^Hey Chad! Long time no see.

I'd say you're right for the most part about not having any favorite Sonics on this team. I'd say Nick is as close as it gets for me though.

i don't mind kd, but hate it how he is kinda soft, like Shareef Abudl Rahim...needs to stop getting blocked. If we could morph Green and Durant that would be one nasty player.

and gelebale should be called jellybean
