Game Thread: Seattle Supersonics @ Golden State Warriors

Post#1 » by Det the Threat » Tue Feb 26, 2008 3:36 pm

After being blown out by Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, the Sonics will head to the Bay Area and play Baron Davis and his Golden State Warriors.

The Sonics will be shorthanded in this one, as Robert Swift is still sidlined with his torn meniscus. Guard Earl Watson(upper respiratory infection) and guard/forward Damien Wilkins(MRI on his sprained right wrist) did not travel with the team and won't be available for this one. Forward Chris Wilcox did travel with the team, but is doubtful.

When and Where?

Tuesday, February 26th, 7:30 p. m. PT, Oracle Arena, Oakland, California

This game will be broadcasted by FSN NW

Questions:
Will we be able to keep up with them, while being shorthanded?
Can we still win the battle on the boards, even if Wilcox is out?
Will Green give us more then his usual 9 and 5?
Can Ridnour show that he might deserve to start another game or two?
Was Gelabale's output against the Lakers just a fluke?

I voted for a win but I'm pretty confident PJ will do his best to make that not happen.

He had his best game of the year vs Atlanta this past Friday and he may be gaining Nellie's trust.

Anybody think the Sonics will lose by less than 20?

Just reworked the game thread a bit.

Gary Washburn reports that Wilcox might see some limited minutes off the bench and that Donyell Marshall will be available for this one.

The Sonics worked out Tuesday morning at the University of San Francisco and will be limited with injuries for tonight's game against the Golden State Warriors. Earl Watson (flu) and Damien Wilkins (wrist) are in Seattle and will not be available.

An MRI on Wilkins' wrist showed no structural damage but just fluid in the area. He is questionable for Wednesday's home game against the Denver Nuggets.

Watson did not make the trip and is also questionable for Denver. Luke Ridnour will start at point guard.

Chris Wilcox made the trip but remained at the team hotel, he could get limited minutes tonight, according to coach P.J. Carlesimo. Nick Collison will start at power forward.

Donyell Marshall worked out with the team for the first time and he is expected to make his Sonics debut tonight.

I think the Sonics will get blown out. But I'm hoping for a much better performance from Kevin Durant this game. Last time Stephen Jackson was all up in his grill not letting Kevin do muh of anything.

Then there was GS fan talking trash saying that Kevin Durant was scared of Jackson. Let's just say I'm hoping Durant puts this one to rest because really the only people who should be afraid of Stephen Jackson are the ones sitting in the stands.

Well, I think that Jackson is a genuinely good defender. (E.g. against Dirk.) That had nothing to do with Durant being scared. What I'm most concerned about tonight is Davis and Ellis driving. After all, they seem to get to the basket easily against teams with 1/2 decent perimeter defense ...

i kind of like elson. big, active, knows how to get position. he looke like he might be a keeper.

durant is starting to figure it out. and when he does, i mean when he really "gets it", watch out. he could be scary.

fun game so far, i like the action.

man home team commentators annoy me. Is it just me or are the sonics guys have alot more perspective than any other home team callers. Any way we crumbled at the end, i just thought it was odd that they didn't say that Ridnour had 12 assists and collison had a double-double with about 5 minutes left in the half.

on a less ranty note, how are baron and monta getting open layups on every trip down the floor... its so frustrating.

it would be nice if someone could stop dribble penatration once and a while. luke cant play defense to save his life. he is passing well though. but he can't seem to get his shot dialed in. hmmmmm...........i think he has had enough time to get things figured out. he needs a new address.
more gelly, more gelly, more gelly....

Agreed. I'm watching a GS broadcast and the commentators have called out the refs for bad calls on the OPPOSING team. That's pathetic. Also pathetic is Collison on defense
