Seattle Trades:
Earl Watson
Adrian Griffin
Phoenix 08 #1

Warriors Trade:
TPE

As you guys learned from the Kurt Thomas trade, a late first rounder is the price for cap flexibility.

Dropping Watson and Griffin's salaries bring you guys about 17 mil under the cap this off season. This is enough for you to make a serious run at a guy like Gilbert Arenas in the off season. If you add Michael Beasley to go with Durant and Green, as well as a bunch of draft picks in the coming years, you could be a pretty attractive option for Arenas.

This works for the Warriors because they could use a solid backup to Baron, and the two of them have chemistry from UCLA. Watson's salary isn't high enough to push us too far into the luxary tax (once biedrins and ellis are signed) and his salary expires alongside those of Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington.

Meh.. I'd rather keep the pick, you never know if the Suns never do pick it up, and as nice as it would be getting more salary, Watson has actually been kind decent, and would be a good back up if we get a competent PG in the draft

That's something the Sonics wouldn't touch.

No matter how much we're under the cap, i doubt that any big name free agant would come to this mess that is called the Seattle Supersonics, right now.

Also, outside of Gilbert Arenas, there's most likely no real big fish available this summer(Marion and Brand won't opt out) and i'd rather take a chance on a scoring point guard with our own draft pick(Bayless or Mayo) instead of handing out a max contract to a guy that has had some injury problems as of late.

BTW: Adrian Griffin's contract isn't guaranteed for next season and can be bought out on the cheap this summer. So there's no need to get rid of his salary. Oh, and Watson has shown this year, that he can be a solid (back up)point guard and with his contract expiring in 2 years, he shouldn't be all that hard to move.

I gotta agree with everyone else in here. Not a chance I touch that trade offer with the Warriors.

That Phoenix pick just keeps getting better and of our two bad PG's Watson is the one I'd keep around while I broke in a young PG that is drafted this season.

As noted above, Griffin's contract is minimal and expires after next season anyways.

The SEATTLE SuperSonics will not be going after any bigname Free Agents this offseason and I wouldn't want Agent Zero on the Sonics. Bennett is going to be forced to stay in Seattle for two more seasons and he'll just keep cutting salary to try and minimize his losses during that time frame. Trading away a valuable 1st round pick to get rid of a decent backup PG doesn't make any sense.

Offer Rejected!

Oh, and another thing....the value of the two Phoenix first rounders was tied more to keeping Phoenix under the luxury tax level that it was to just creating "cap flexibility" down the line.

and one last thing

They have so many picks stocked up, that they're willing to give one up to cut salary.

We are? Where have you read that? All i've read about picks is collecting them for flexibilities in trades 'n such and stock piling quantity for quality. If anything about picks are going it's going to be 2nd rounders most likely.

Rejected...I don't think I've ever seen a trade like this (as big and not a S&T).

TPE are nice, but good luck with selling that.

No, no, no. What we learned from the Kurt Thomas trade is that if you're looking to fleece a team for first round picks, Phoenix is the tree to bark at.
