So right now I'm living in new jersey, in the shadow of New York City. I might be moving to Seattle come August. I was just wondering if I can get some general information on the city, cost of living, nightlife, ladies, weather, ect. How do you guys like living in seattle? Have you lived anywhere else and how would you compare it to other cities? Thanks for any and all info.

What's the reason you're moving? Are you going to live in the heart of seattle or a suburb? Seattle's cost of living is quite high in most areas. The nighlife is good throughout most of Seattle, ladies are okay. The weather is tricky, we get little bits of rain throughout September until May. During the summer the weather is high 70s to high 80s.

it is kind of hard to discribe seattle. in spite of the cliche's (rain, coffee, etc) it is a pretty eclectic city and region. i dont live there (i live east of the mountains and i grew up in tacoma) but i visit often. i have been around a bit and i say this truthfully, seattle is just a special place.

It's my favourite city in the USA, the people are open minded, diverse and aware of what's going on, there's a vibrant ethnic community, beautiful surroundings, and Vancouver is close by, Cali is a stones throw and a bit away.

I've lived in Denver, San Diego, Atlanta, Mid-state NY, and Seattle, and I've traveled ALL over the country.

Seattle's by far the nicest place I've ever lived and I hope I never have to leave. That said, it's not for everyone.

The city and the surroundings are beautiful. If you like to spend time outdoors, this is the place. The city is also clean and very safe. Each neighborhood reminds me a little of the boroughs you would find in cities back East, ie. little cities within the larger city. And that's cool.

Nightlife is much, much better than when I moved here back in 1994. There's a little of everything, but if you're into a big club scene you might find things a little lacking.

We're one of the best educated and literate cities in the country. People tend to be polite but kind of reserved. I read a lot about how it can be hard to meet people here. (If you're coming for school though that won't be a problem). You won't find tons of hot women just walking down the street, like you would in NYC, but there are places and activities where you can find them. I will say though that I have heard on many occasions how a Seattle 9 or 10 is just a 7 or 8 in LA.

The biggest cons are the traffic, poor public transportation, cost of living, and indecisive politicians.

I actually like the weather because it never gets too cold and never gets to hot. The rain thing is overblown. Atlanta gets more precipitation and more extreme weather. And the summers here, although short, are perfect.

Finally, it's really a great town for basketball at all levels, despite what some people from Oklahoma City might want you to think.
