The relocation fee should not be motivation for the owners.

So the relocation fee is something in the neighborhood of 40 million right?

That is split up evenly to the other 29 teams so that breaks down to less than 1.4mil per team.

Over the course of and NBA season 1.4 mil isn't jack squat. Especially to the owners who fart 5mil a year.

Heck the Sonics were still playing Bob Weiss more than 1.4mil last year.

1.4mil should be little motivation for the owners to vote yes on the relocation. Especially with all the bad press this has been getting.

Plus with a Key Arena renovation and a new lease they should be able to make money in Seattle, as opposed to "breaking even" in OKC as McClendon suggested.

I'm still trying to figure out a legitimate reason why the owners vote yes? Other than to purely sticking it to the city of Seattle for not funding a 500mil arena.

Owners would vote yes so as not to set a precedent for the day when they want to move their franchise or for when they want to threaten a city which won't build them a new arena.
