Letter from Senators Murray and Cantwell to Stern:

Are they covering their butts or trying to make a difference? Both.

I don't hold Cantwell/Murray in anyway responsible for the current crisis. ANd right now they have no real ammo other than just to ask the BOG not to vote.

This is not even close to being the same situation as it was with the state politicians.

this surprises me. even though they really hold no real sway in this situation it is a powerful vote of support..

word is certainly getting around.

I am sure Murray/Cantwell's letter carries more weight. Because they can start to talk "Anti-trust", and the NBA has to listen.

why is it that so many people's first reaction is to question the motives of the people speaking out?

who cares what the motivation is? and besides, big time politicians and business owners spend their entire lives covering their own butts, so even if that is the reason, it doesnt matter.

whats good is that the battle to keep the sonics here is now being considered the "right" thing to do, whereas prior to emailgate, i dont think the politicians and schultz felt it was. now, its on and i dont see bennet winning if the heat keeps getting turned up

the nba is a monopoly. howard schultz just hired one of the foremost anti-trust lawyers in the country. the nba has no anti-trust exemption. two senators have just entered the fray. the nba is a monopoly.

The phone rings in Clay house.... a quivering voice on the other ends says "Clay, this is Davie.... wha.. wha... what do we do now?"

It sucks that it is the future of the Sonics at stake, but it is fun to watch.
